Fall 2018 "Celebrate" RosePost Box Review
This box always feels so luxurious to open! I knew from spoilers most of what was going to be in here, but I still enjoyed the unboxing process quite a bit:
There was a full-color information card with more details about the products and brands included in the box. I thought it was quite informative. It’s actually pretty handy, too, in that it has web addresses for easy reorders (and accurate pricing information).
You’ll often receive some coupons and/or product literature. It is generally pretty relevant to the box contents.
There were a lot of heavy/liquid/glass items this month and they were all wrapped securely in bubble wrap. Nothing broke and nothing leaked.
Rose and Vanilla Mineral Lip Tint by Badger Balm (0.15 oz) – Retail Value $4.99
This has a color such that I feel safe applying it without looking in the mirror (but on the other hand it does transfer to mugs). It is not the *most* moisturizing lip balm I’ve ever tried, but it is cruelty-free and it has a good texture for a cocoa butter/shea butter/coconut oil-based lip balm (sometimes those can get gritty, but this one is not gritty at all).
Here is a swatch of the lip balm.
Rose Vanilla Soy Candle by Aromasoy Candles (4 oz) – Listed Value $9
I didn’t see this exact scent in the Aromasoy Etsy shop, but $9 seems to be the standard price for a candle of this size. Vanilla and rose make for an interesting combination that is both vaguely food-like (from the vanilla) and not (from the rose). It is a pleasant scent, though, and made from soy wax with no added dyes.
Rose Gold Face Oil by Essential Rose Life (1 fl oz) – Retail Value $48
This is a new brand for me. There is some discussion of mantras and “mood enhancing” on the product page and I’m not sure I’d go there when talking about this product, but it was nicely moisturizing and didn’t interfere with subsequent makeup application. (I used to think I couldn’t use face oils but then I started exfoliating and found that oils were just fine for my skin.) This has a few antioxidants, which is something I really love to see in skincare. It only takes a few drops to cover your whole face, too, so this will last a long while.
Rose Absolute Oil Touch-Ready Roller by Blue Flower (0.33 fl oz) – Retail Value $36
This is already in a fractionated coconut oil carrier so no need to dilute prior to applying to the skin (which is good since that would be hard to do in a rollerball container anyway). Again, there are some claims about emotions and calming effects on the product page, and claims like that don’t do much for me as a scientist, but…I do like the scent of rose a lot, and this product definitely smells of roses, and it works quite well as a roll-on perfume, so that’s how I’ll be using the rest of this.
Organic White Rose Flower Water by Armina Bio (100 mL) – Retail Value $17
My skin has been rebelling lately. It’s irritated and sensitive. I think this is partly the fault of the weather and partly the fault of my skincare experimentation. Anyway, I was hopeful that this would work as a toner without hurting or drying out my skin, and it was quite good for that. So I think I have found my winter toner. I also tried mixing it with a clay mask and it imparted a slight rose scent though I can’t say whether it made a huge difference in terms of mask performance (it was mostly just a fun thing to try).
Verdict: I calculated a value of $114.99 for the Fall 2018 RosePost Box. This was a fun unboxing experience for me, from the packaging and presentation on down to actually trying the products. Most of the brands (and all of the items) were new to me, so that was fun. I thought everything went together well in terms of winter skin care and moisturization, and the candle was a nice touch (we’ve never received one before).
