Our Review

Maybelline Master Primer, 15ml - Estimated Value $3.50 (buy a 30ml tube for $6.99)
I was shocked when I tried this primer for the first time. Its texture is like a lotion, and I am loving it for a glowy-skin, moisturizing, winter primer. It is unscented and smoothes over my skin adding an extra layer of hydration and a more even texture.
Raw Sugar Cube Bath Fizzers, 2oz - Estimated Value $1.25 (buy an 8-count for $9.99)
This cube didn’t have a lot of fragrance, color or even fizz to it, but it made my skin feel so soft! I would love to try the bigger cubes to see if they are more fragrant, but I kind of liked the subtlety of this size, too. I never tried anything from this brand, but they are cruelty-free & vegan. For every Raw Sugar product purchased, a bar of soap is donated; I love to support companies that give back, so I’ll definitely be purchasing and trying a few different items from Raw Sugar on my next trip to Target!
OGX Argan Oil of Morocco Dry Shampoo, 1.75oz - Estimated Value $2.45 (buy a 5 oz. bottle for $6.99)
OGX’s packaging has always attracted me, but I’ve only ever tried little packets of their shampoo and condition; needless to say, I was pretty excited to see their dry shampoo in this box! It didn’t add a lot of texture, and I didn’t notice any white residue; I sprayed the roots of my hair, which added a lovely powdery scent and a little lift to my style.
Good Chemistry Magnolia Violet Perfume, .06fl oz - Estimated Value $0.88 (buy a 1.7 oz. bottle for $24.99)
Typically I don’t love floral scents, but I happen to love magnolias. They smell so fresh and always remind me of spring, so this perfume (in small doses) could definitely work for me! I am, however, not fond of the packaging of this perfume vial; I will always prefer a spray to this type of glass vial with the lid (I always end up dumping the sample all over myself!).
SheaMoisture African Black Soap & Charcoal Body Scrub, 2oz - Estimated Value $4 (buy a 6 oz. tube for $11.99)
My SheaMoisture obsession started with the African Black Soap range, so this is the item I was most excited about trying out. I am not disappointed, but I would have liked a little more scrubbing action. It is a very gentle, moisturizing formula that I would definitely repurchase for daily use, but if you’re looking to scrub away a layer of skin, look elsewhere.
Acure Brilliantly Brightening Night Cream, 1.7oz FULL SIZE! - Retail Value $17.99
What a great addition to an advent calendar, a heavy night cream! A little dab goes a long way, so this tube will probably last a few months. This cream is thick and very moisturizing, but it doesn’t feel too heavy on the skin. The citrusy smell is light and subtle, and I really like it. One of the best things about this find is that it is paraben-free, phthalate-free and vegan!
Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder in Precious Petals, .19oz FULL SIZE! - Retail Value $4.99
I have heard wonderful things about Wet n Wild’s highlighters for a very long time, and I am happy to report that they are worth the hype! Precious Petals is a beautiful rose gold shade, and the formula didn’t exaggerate any pores or texture on my face. This powder is very buildable, so it works for a sheer glow or a bolder, gold highlight.
W3ll People Expressionist Mascara Mini, .08oz - Value $7.65 (buy a full-size tube for $21.99)
Out of every product I use, mascara is my very favorite. I love to try new formulas from different brands, and this mascara performed well as far as lengthening and separating goes, as you can see in the photo above. I prefer a more volumizing mascara, but I wasn’t disappointed by this one, either.
e.l.f. Conturing Kabuki Brush, FULL SIZE! - Retail Value $5.19
I was surprised by how soft this brush is. It is a larger kabuki with long bristles making it the perfect tool to blend face powder but especially finishing powder and bronzer. Its bristles are made of Taklon, which is vegan-friendly and of course cruelty-free.
Real Techniques Miracle Sculpting Sponge, FULL SIZE - Retail Value $5.89
Real Techniques makes my favorite sponges; they blend all textures of makeup like a dream! These sponges last the longest, they are easy to clean and they are wallet-friendly. The shape of this sponge was different for me to use, but I like all of the different angles it creates to get into the undereye and around the nose crevices.
Vichy LiftActiv Supreme, .51fl oz - Estimated Value $12.82 (buy a 1.69 oz jar for $42.49)
Vichy is a brand I’ve sampled before from Ipsy and Birchbox, and I never seemed to get on with any of the products I’ve tried. This cream is a heavy, thick texture and it has a perfume-y fragrance to it. It seemed to absorb quickly into my skin, leaving it feeling very soft, but I try not to use any perfumed products on my acne-prone skin.
Bliss Fab Foaming Face Wash, 2fl oz - Estimated Value $3.12 (buy a 6.4 oz bottle for $9.99)
This face wash has a scent that reminds me of candy! The scrubbing beads were not abrasive, making this a perfectly mild daily face wash. After I dried my face, my skin felt a bit tight, so I probably won’t be using this sample up; I need all the moisture I can get!
Verdict: What an exciting, versatile box! I love all the different types of products included, and I will definitely be getting a lot of use from most of them. These boxes are always great to try an array of items for a cheap price, and this one was especially fun to unbox. Target Beauty Box always includes great brands that I love to sample, and you can’t beat their prices! Inside of this Advent Calendar came 12 items for $19.99, which breaks down to approximately $1.67 per item.
