Teabox is a monthly themed box filled with loose-leaf selections and easily-digestible, expert notes that provide background information and help compare flavor profiling with your own tasting experiences.
There were so many layers to this box -- there was even a layer of clear wrapping paper over the Teabox themed wrapping paper -- they really made me work for this one!

Teabox “The Pause Box” November 2018 Review
Each Teabox comes with a little booklet describing the theme of the month and listing the sampled teas with a brief description of each one. This month’s theme is Pause, encouraging you to take a quiet moment away to breathe and indulge in the bright and energizing flavors this box has in store.
Each blend in this box weighed 10 grams, and if you go by the serving recommendations, you can get 4 cups of each to sample.
This box came with a set of Finum tea filters - a great and useful addition to the box. I always use my Teavana Perfect Tea maker at home, but tea filters will make drinking loose leaf much easier at the office.
English Breakfast, 10g - Retail Value $3
A great way to start your morning, this tea is true to your traditional English Breakfast tea. This robust blend had me buzzing through Hump Day with its sweet honey and malty flavors and its high caffeine content. Milk was necessary for this one, which I usually end up stirring in for breakfast tea anyway, making it a little milder and very drinkable.
Nepal Breakfast, 10g – Retail Value $3
I see why Teabox would refer to this as a “woody blend,” because I picked up on the “hint of pine” right away. The almond presence gave this tea a very faint sweetness, which I feel is necessary to smooth out the woody taste; I added a dash of sugar, as prescribed on the packaging, and it helped bring out that sweetness even more. All in all, an enjoyable drinking experience!
Imperial Breakfast, 10g – Retail Value $3
Drinking this tea plain has been my favorite way of indulging. Usually, English teas are too astringent or bitter and need either honey, milk or both to soften those flavors, but this tea is so mild it doesn’t need any mellowing. It is a little spicy from the nutmeg, but I enjoyed this subtle twist of flavor.
Irish Breakfast, 10g – Retail Value $3
The color of this tea is such a beautiful red-orange! I only added a tiny bit of sugar to this very bold blend, and it was a pleasure to drink. The creamy pecan notes really came through, but I didn’t really detect the tang Teabox predicted. I am definitely not disappointed, though!
Indian Breakfast, 10g– Retail Value $3
Here is another beautiful blend I could have enjoyed free of any milk of honey. This was my favorite tea from this November box--subtle and a little sweet. This is, for me, the perfect dessert tea; I added milk for this drinking occasion, giving it just enough sweetness to prevent me from reaching for my usual dark chocolate fix after lunch.
Verdict: Teabox sent an array of breakfast teas my way this month, and upon opening the box, I was a little concerned that they would all taste the same; however, when each tea brewed, and I took that first sip, I could see that each tea’s personality, for the most part, was distinct and unique from one another. I am happy to report that I enjoyed each blend this month! Although this box only technically adds up to $15 retail, I like the theme and the curation each month, and I think the way they describe their teas and the thought that goes into each blend makes the experience much more meaningful to me. I also have a hard time shopping for new, different teas, so a monthly box is the perfect solution.
