BarkBox is a monthly subscription box for dogs. It’s one of our favorite subscription boxes – our dog loves it, and we’ve gifted it to dogs in our extended family as well!

BarkBox customizes your box to your dog’s size. For reference, this review is for the small size (our dog weighs 14 pounds). Check out Trevor's recent review of the super chewer box!

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

How cute is this packaging? This box was themed around The Grinch!

November 2018 Barkbox Review

This might be the biggest Barkbox yet - 3 toys, 2 bags of treats, a chew, and Mac's antlers - very exciting! This isn't the norm for Barkbox - we typically see 2 toys, 2 treats, and a chew.

This cute little dog-written message accompanies the information card about items in the box.

Buckles is howling to get underway.

Max's Antler - Value $6

One fun item from this box is a little dog accessory.

It adjustable with a bit of velcro - but always has some stretch to it.

Popping this on Buckles immediately turned him into The Grinch.

The Grinch Toy - Value $10

The first toy for The Grinch is...The Grinch, of course. It has a little bit of everything, bungee arms, squeakers, and crinkly paper - all in this nice little plush package.

The Grinch is the perfect size for Buckles. He tossed this toy around for quite a bit.

Grinchy Gift - Value $10?

This wasn't included in our app, so it was a bit of a surprise toy. The Grinchy Gift toy is one of those now-classic Barkbox toy-within-a-toy. Inside, there is a little rubber ball.

This was a bit less optimal of a toy for Buckles (and he wouldn't enjoy the little ball inside) - but I do like how Barkbox is doing a ton of usable toys within plush toys, just in case your dog tears this thing apart.

Nutty Stu - Value $10

The third and final toy is another plush toy. Nutty Stu has a tube squeaker and crinkly areas for your dog to tear apart.

Like The Grinch toy, this is a great size toy for our dog - Buckles was tossing this around on set, too.

Chew On This Pork Treat - Value $8

The first of two treat bags are bite-sized pork treat. They are wheat, soy, corn, and grain-free - this is absolutely what we need for Buckles.

Both treats were perfectly bite-sized and soft. The pork treat turned out to be the favorite of the two options.

Tis My Checkin. Tisn't Yours! Treats - Value $8

Bite-size chicken squares are an easy win for Buckles - he loves anything chicken-related. These are wheat, soy, and corn-free.

These little squares are soft and perfect for small/medium size pups. Barkbox's Bark brand treats are always made in the USA, too.

Beef Burger Chew - Value $5

The final item in the box is a burger-flavored chew from Happy Howie's dog treats. This thing is very hard - to the point where it was hard to snap it apart - so we decided to not let Buckles have a piece...that didn't stop him from trying:

There's a whole photo series of me trying to fight this from him - his little body has so much power.

Verdict: November's special edition Grinch box is a lot of fun and packed with goodies. All in all, this is easily our favorite delivery from Barkbox yet - in terms of the number of items and quality of items, this was just top-notch.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Customer care let us know that your first box will now always be either their Welcome Box or the current month’s box, followed by the normal schedule the following month.

I wish I got this box. I had thought about taking advantage of the Cyber Friday Deal, but was worried about the pile up of treats. My dog had a sensitive tummy and is also dieting. I wish they had a box option with all this stuff minus the treats.

I signed up for super chewer & got 4 toys, 4 treats & 4 chews for the first box! Amazing! We also got this box through the better than Black Friday deal but I’m saving it for Christmas. We got this grinch & the fuzzy moose thing & I used the Max antlers in our Christmas photo this year ❤️ I think December spoilers are in the Bark shop! For the super chewer box I’m hoping for the little blue stocking as one of the toys. Soooo cute! Loving Barkbox so far.

This was my 3rd Box….
We only got 2 toys in our box & 1 of them wasn’t even a Grinch toy….talk about disappointed!! Our 2nd toy was 1 random snowflake that is actually half of a set of 2 but was available for purchase alone for only $5! I reached out to Barkbox & they said they were out of Grinch toys so they gave me a $15 store credit but it wouldn’t stack with the Cyber Monday sales prices or with free shipping at that time. Now that all the sales are over it is allowing me to use a free shipping/sale code with my shop credit but it’s irritating to know that I could should have been able to get the same toys for cheaper originally. I really like Barkbox & they make every effort to correct issues but this month was more frustration than it was worth!!

This was our first box and our dogs loved it! I didn’t get the 3rd toy like you did, but they have played non-stop with the other toys.

So cute! Just a heads up – the toy inside the gift box isn’t *just* a ball. It’s a little charcoal plush! And then, once they rip the charcoal fabric off, it’s a ball!

Good to know! Buckles has never destroyed a toy in his life, so we’d never know.

Amanda

Haha! It takes my 100 pound pup about 10 minutes, which is why Barkbox works out so well for us! Does Buckles collect all of his toys, or do you guys eventually just toss them?

LB

I suspected that so I gave it to my expert toy destroyer dog immediately and he won’t rip this one open! Lol. All he did was rip off the tag immediately and now he carries it around squeaking it like he’s so happy he got a present!

Amanda

lol, I always impatiently sit and wait for my dog to rip it open. Half irritated at the speed in which he is destroying, and half in excitement to seethe surprises!

Michelle

This was our first Barkbox and to say I was impressed and Bam Bam was amazed, is an understatement.

First of all the customer service was exemplary. As soon as I signed up and instant chat appeared wanting specific info on Bamy. Nice touch!! We literally got the box in a week.
When we opened it we both took a huge breath because of the Christmas magic that was inside. The goodies were a big hit, the chew stick gone the first night, and oh the babies. That Grinch has gone to bed with us every night and has to be on my lap all evening. He carries it around like it is his most precious possession. It is great for tossing up in the air and then cuddling.

We can not wait for the next box.

I forgot the most important item which was those antlers!! I got adorable pictures in the 10 minutes he would wear it.
