November 2018 Brick Loot “Emergency Rescue” Review
This month all of the builds are related to the emergency medicine and rescue theme. In any decent (mini LEGO) city you need to have an urgent care facility, so I’m glad to have one to add to my collection.
Each delivery arrives with a card that details each item in your box.
Air Ambulance Exclusive 100% LEGO Build Designed by Tyler Clites – Value $12? (Based on a similar item here)
The first build contained 64 pieces and an 11 step instruction insert, intended to make a rescue helicopter. This set is exclusively designed for Brick Loot by Tyler Clites. I thought the finished product turned out OK but was annoyed by the directions. I felt that they missed several steps and were unclear, and in the end, I’m still not sure where I went wrong or where these extra two pieces were supposed to go.
Mini City “Doc In A Box” – Value $13? (Based on a similar item here)
This Mini City Neighborhood Urgent Care and Pharmacy contain 195 pieces and I thought it was quite fun to build. Unlike the ambulance, the instructions were clear and easy for me to follow. I loved the result and the detail that this little building featured. It did take me a few minutes to figure out why the title was “Dog in a Box” – then it clicked (no pun intended) that it said “Doc”!
LED Light Linx – Retail Value $2.99
This product is a new offering and enables you to connect up to 50 LEDs per 1 USB plug! Another cool feature is that they connect directly to your LEGOs, allowing you to create custom lighting configurations. There are many options available so that you can mix and match parts as needed so that you can truly illuminate your city exactly how you want it! I think this is a cool, useful and affordable product that has uses beyond LEGOs. I might consider using it to illuminate my nativity set this year. This link has some really cool kits that you can buy to show off these lights and gives you some idea of what this might look like in practice if you had more than a single piece.
Medical Tile Pack – Value $5? (Based on a similar item here)
This essential tile pack snaps onto your LEGO bricks and contains medical details X-rays, pills, and band-aids.
Doctor McBillund – Estimated Value $5?
This 100% LEGO minigure is the perfect pilot for your helicopter, and doctor for your clinic. I did question the scale though – pictured above you can see him standing next to the pill from the tile pack. It seems like that would be a tough pill to swallow!
Verdict: I think that this was a great box and I was pleased that this month the builds were more complex than last month. I loved the mini-city kit as well as the lighting demo set. I wish some of the instructions would have been clearer. As for value, it’s hard to quantify since so many of these items are exclusive to this box. I paid $33 ($27 + $6 shipping) – and I think that the actual retail value is at least that amount, if not a little higher, so I do feel like I got a solid value. Use average, I received 5 items, meaning each item would break down to about $6.60.
