Bullymake Box is a monthly subscription box for power chewers. You all have heard about (and seen) some of Nyx’s exploits with plush toys from dog subscription boxes so when I heard about this one, I had to sign up immediately. Nyx is definitely a power chewer! You pick your dog’s weight in 10-pound increments so this is a box for an 80-pound dog (Nyx weighs about 84 right now).
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)
About Bullymake Box
The Subscription Box: Bullymake Box
The Cost: $39 a month (save with 3, 6, and 12-month subscriptions)
The Products: Toys and treats specifically tailored for heavy chewing dogs (no plushes). You can also choose a “toys only” box. Because of Nyx’s dietary issues, I went with the “toys only” box. You can also enter specific allergy information in a box on the checkout screen.
Ships to: USA (free!)
Good to know: if you want a toys-only box, you must select that during sign-up. Otherwise, you will get the default box, which does include some treats.
Bullymake Box December 2018 Review
Not all boxes are the same due to the fact that you can choose your dog’s size in 10 pound increments, choose a toys-only box, etc., but there is usually an information card highlighting an item or two from the box.
Nylon Chew
I’m not sure what this is supposed to be. Bacon? It doesn’t matter because Nyx absolutely loves it, as she does all Bullymake-branded nylon chews. So far, this one looks like it will last her a few sessions, too. (This was specific to the “toys only” box; those items can be a bit random but there’s often an extra Bullymake-branded nylon chew in the toys only box.)
Bullymake Rope Ball
Nyx loves rope toys. Her mission in life is to destroy them by gnawing on them. Well, it’s a quiet activity and it keeps her happy. She’ll get to play with this one at least twice, maybe three times, as she has not caused much damage yet. This is the first Bullymake-branded rope toy I’ve seen and it’s not available in their shop.
Nylon Snowflake Chew – Listed Value $18
This is one of the featured items for the month (should appear in all boxes). You can see some pictures of Nyx with it below. I believe she’s had it three times now and it is still safe for her to have again. (Our evening routine involves feeding her an 11 PM meal – she has to eat five times a day for her IBD – and then letting her play with a toy.)
Rubber Snowman – Listed Value $18
The other featured toy for the month is usually a rubber toy in the KONG style (i.e., large opening in one end, smaller opening in the other to avoid suction issues, with an inside that can be stuffed with treats). Nyx is too lazy to try to get treats out of one of these (seriously, she gives up after a minute or two) but she does like licking peanut butter out of them so that is what we usually do with them. Sometimes I fill them with water and freeze them (but not at this time of year).
Here are a few shots of Nyx with the snowflake toy. These nylon chews are the highlight of her month.
Verdict: I couldn’t calculate a total value for the December 2018 Bullymake Box because none of the items were available in their shop (some may appear later, especially this month’s featured toys) and there’s really nowhere else to get them since they were all Bullymake branded. But, Nyx liked everything and everything was durable and I know that durable toys for large, heavy chewers are expensive, so I feel like this box is a good deal for us. (Of course, every dog’s chew style is different.)
Note: if you want a toys-only box, you must select that during sign-up. Otherwise, you will get the default box, which does include some treats.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first shipment would be January's. You can sometimes buy some of the exclusive toys at the Bullymake Shop if something catches your eye (this month’s toys may take a few weeks to get put into the shop). Also, please note there are some box variations here so you may not always receive the same box as Nyx gets, even if you choose the same profile values when you sign up.
Value Breakdown: At $39 for the box, you are paying approximately $9.75 per item.
