California Found November 2018 Review
Instead of a booklet or pamphlet, California Founds sends these really cool info cards for each product. They are very nice quality and informative. It also points out that they donate 10% of their profit every month to a charitable cause, and this month the donation went to help the California wildfire efforts (no specific organization named, understandably). Also, the little band holding the cards together is embedded with wildflower seeds, so it's plantable! So awesome! And finally, they have added a Golden Ticket contest - so if you find one in your sizzle, you get a free box for yourself or a friend!
The Logan Bag by MidiQueen - Retail Value $38
This is the third bag I have received from MidiQueen in a California Found box, and I could not be happier! These bags are exactly my aesthetic. This is an oversized makeup bag, and it's super functional as well as super cool. The inside of the top has elastics to hold my brushes in place, and it's so roomy! I also really like the retro upholstery fabric they used, in an awesome fall palette, no less! MidiQueen is located in Ventura, California.
Handmade Greeting Cards by The Wee Tree Co. - Retail Value $9.50
Look at these tiny, pretty holiday cards! They are so nice, and I like that they are appropriate to send to anyone. I know just who to send these to! These cards are handmade by Rosalind Bell in Los Angeles.
YAS QUEEN Shimmer Body Oil in Rose Gold by Belle & Beast Organics - Retail Value $32.50
This body oil is so luxurious! I am pretty cautious when it comes to putting sparkle on my skin, but the shimmer in this body oil is very subtle, as you can (barely) see in the picture. I put some on my legs and it kind of looks like I'm wearing a pair of old-school stockings - that's how subtle it is. It's also full of great, hydrating ingredients like organic sunflower and apricot seed oils. Belle & Beast Organics has a really cool online shop where they sell bath and beauty products for both belles and beasts! Their physical presence is in Pasadena, California.
Candle in Glass (10 oz) by The Hundredth Acre - Retail Value $25
Over the summer I received a candle from The Hundredth Acre that was ocean scented, and now I have this spruce & cedar scented candle just in time for the holidays! It smells so amazing! The Hundredth Acre, out of Laguna Beach, CA, is the shop of candle maker Robert Brink. The candles all have a literary theme as he believes scents are an essential component to storytelling. The candles are also 100% soy wax and come in a lovely recyclable glass container.
Butter Crunch, 2 x 2 oz packs by p.o.p. candy - Retail Value $12
Yes, I did try both of these flavors, and then I had to immediately hand them to my husband and kids before I ate both of the bags myself. This candy is sooooo gooood y'all. California Found sent me some of their candy before in different flavors, and it is seriously addictive. This time I got Brown Sugar & Cinnamon as well as Rum Y Vanilla, and they were both delicious, but I think I preferred the Rum Y Vanilla. I also like that they are made of all natural ingredients that I can easily identify. I almost can't believe that they are based out of Santa Monica, California - everyone there is so fitness oriented! But p.o.p. candy is surely a worthwhile treat!
14kt Gold-Dipped Recycled Pewter Hammered Thin Coff by Jesse and Co. - Retail Value $34
Say hello to my new favorite bracelet! I think at least four of the artisans featured in this month's California Found have been featured before but with goodies this awesome, who cares, really? I have received at least one piece from Jesse and Co. before, and I'm thinking it might be two, but they have all been gorgeous! There's not much more I can tell you about this beautiful bracelet that's not in the title or the picture, except that like all of Felice Jacobson's jewelry, it is handcrafted. She is based out of San Diego, California.
The Verdict: California Found has become one of my favorite subscription boxes! This was an especially awesome box! So much so that I can't really pick a favorite, even the snack was amazing! The value of everything adds up to a whopping $151, which is way more than the promised value of $90, and the box costs only $49!!!
