Cheryl’s Cookie of the Month Review – December 2018

I purchased a Groupon for $30 worth of Cheryl’s cookies. However, once I went shopping on the site, I wasn’t able to use the Groupon for sale items. I ended up getting a 12-cookie sampler and I’ve only tried the frosted cookies. They were good for overpriced to me and the S&H of $10.99 added to the cost. I may order again in the future but I won’t use a Groupon for it.

I bought a Groupon for $30 worth of Chery’ls items for $15. HOWEVER, the fine print of the Groupon only allowed me to purchase items at regular price so all of the sale items were ineligible. The $10.99 shipping didn’t help. So I ended up getting a 12-cookie sampler. I’ve only tried the frosted cookies and they were good but not worth the price point to me.

I love Cheryl’s cookies but a cookie subscription just seems like too much money to me. Cheryl’s often has discounts on Groupon. I wait for that, and then buy whatever cookie set is on sale. It’s still expensive for sugar cookies but at least I feel like I’m getting a deal haha

I’d much rather have fresh cookies from a local bakery or even the bakery section of one of our excellent super- grocery centers.

I think this is an overpriced bunch of mediocre cookies. Also, I don’t like Cheryl’s cookie recipe at all.. Awful.

I just gifted 24 cookies a month for 12 months prepaid, with 24 bonus buttercream cookies, for $230. That’s 74 cents a cookie for Cheryl’s buttercream. That seems reasonable to me.

Cheryl’s Cookies are sold on QVC and in my opinion, have better options. You can also get them on auto delivery and receive a new shipment every season.

Do they only do sugar cookies? I’d prefer some variety for this price point?

For that price you do expect more. My good friend went to culinary school and every year, to satisfy her baking passion, she bakes up at least 6-10 varieties of cookies, uses pure ingredients (butter), makes up a platter for her friends and huge platters just for their coworkers…all at cost to her. She outlines the cookies with frosting and fills them in with sprinkles. They look lovely. To spread on some colored frosting and add a few sprinkles is not creative and does not make them special. Her cutouts have included snowflakes, a fox, a Christmas tree, a reindeer. I have been a recipient of her delicious creations for many years…yet she would never consider going into business. It would ruin the fun!

So you’re paying approximately $2.67 per cookie. Nope! The grocery store bakery cookies are close enough taste-wise and I think a dozen of them would cost $5 or less. I realize that shipping costs are astronomical (and going up again in January) but this just isn’t worth it.

For me, these cookies are just not worth the cost at the new price point. They are definitely yummy, but there are plenty of other local stores and bakerys similar cookies can be purchased for less.
