Le Noir Bazaar – The Dark Market November 2018 Review
As always, there was a card included that detailed both the items inside as well as their listed value. I love the autumnal kitty illustration! Fall, especially after Halloween, is so grey in Pittsburgh and the colors of the leaves are always a welcome sight in any form. It rains so much here that sometimes I feel like fall is much longer than in other places. Let’s see if these items make my day a little less grey, eh?
Black Velvet Infinity Scarf - Listed Value $28
Hello, gorgeous! I love light fashion scarves like this one, and oh look - it’s in my favorite color! This is super-soft and when wrapped twice around my neck, is actually nice and warm. I liked layering this with a top and cardigan; it complemented the layers nicely while keeping me warm.
“Pumpkin” Furry Bones - Listed Value $12
I gotta be honest - before this box, I had no idea what Furrybones were! They seem to just be fun collectible little figurines - something to add a little bit of charm or whimsy to a desk, dressing table or shelf. But they have a decidedly goth spin: they’re all skeletons in little costumes! This little turkey absolutely cracked me up; when I saw its little skull face it really tickled my funny bone (pun, as always, intended). I know I’m going to laugh again when it’s time to put him back on the table for Thanksgiving next year!
Wood Pentacle Altar Tile - Listed Value $12
This is what I really love about this box - the curation! I’m familiar with their use but I actually don’t have one myself! They’re commonly noted as a sort of focal point for energy in the altar when one is doing actual spellwork. I’ve used the design of an altar cloth to similar effect, but I love the dimensionality of this, as well as how well-made it is. It looks like it could be an old object, untouched by modernity, and given Paganism’s ancient roots, that feels nice, too!
Pumpkin Votive Fall Decor - Listed Value $7
What a nice little surprise! I decorate my house for holidays from September-December, and I find that I often don’t have enough non-Halloween fall decor. This cute li’l pumpkin and these artificial leaves are a nice pop of color and are small enough that I can find a number of places to put them. Note: in the one photo, it looks like the candle has a fake flame on it - it’s just the wax coating on the wick! It’s a regular votive candle, scented with spices, and it smells delicious.
Triple Moon Choker - Listed Value $21
Readers, I am on the choker train so hard - I loved them in the ’90s and I love them again now that they’re popular again! Admittedly, I do think the listed value of $21 is a little high for this item, but I want to mention that the charm is high-quality, and the choker part is an extremely high-quality elastic ribbon, and the elastic serves two important purposes: one, the elastic keeps it nice and high on the neck without slipping, and two, the extra give, plus a clasp and chain, keeps it from feeling too tight against my throat! I immediately started wearing this when I received it and received a bunch of compliments on it.
Pumpkin Spice Brown Sugar Scrub - Listed Value $8
I have a lot of scrubs in my house, but this is my first experience with brown sugar - and I really like it! This has a richer smell from the molasses that’s in brown sugar but the spices are so nice! It’s not a fake, crazy-cinnamon smell. There’s sweetness from actual pumpkin and it’s well-balanced. I liked that it was a sugar scrub, too - sometimes salt scrubs can be a little harsh, but this didn’t seem to dry out my skin after using.
Verdict: Le Noir Bazaar was a real bright spot in an otherwise grey month! I really like the wide variety of items that can arrive in this box; it always keeps me guessing and keeps the subscription fresh each time I receive it. I loved the fall decor set, and the Furrybones was a super-hilarious surprise! The altar tile was both beautiful and useful, and the scrub and the accessories were also perfectly tailored to my taste.
To Wrap Up:
Can I still get this box if I sign up today? Sadly, no! You’ll receive the January box. Boxes ship by the 14th every month.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $35.99 + $7 shipping, which means that each of the 6 items in the box has an average cost of $7.17. This is way, way less than what these items are listed as being worth, and way less than I could’ve found them for by myself!
