Lip Monthly December 2018 Review
This month's theme is “Merry Christmas" and they included a note about the launch of their new website and their rewards program.
Each month, Lip Monthly sends their products in a little makeup bag. The bag is small, just a bit bigger than my iPhone plus (which doesn't fit inside) and has a soft material on the outside. I love that these bright red and purple florals give just a small nod to Christmas, but don't feel too seasonal that you couldn't use it all year long.
Sorme Lip Liner in Decaf 12 - Listed Value $13
I am always glad to see a lip liner in this bag because I've realized I don't have very many in my makeup collection at the moment. This one is a bit brown for me, but I think with some blending I could definitely make it work. This formula is said to be smearproof and contains hydrating lecithin and vitamins C & E and the square shape of this liner is meant to give you control. While I didn't find it to be incredibly long-wearing, I still think it is a nice shade that will blend well with almost any lipstick.
Here I have it on with just a bit of lip balm over the top.
Bellapierre Matte Mineral Lipstick in Incognito - Listed Value $20
This is not my shade at all, but this is a soft, velvety formula that goes on smoothly and is very matte in appearance. I didn't find it to be long lasting, although it did pass the drinking glass test. However, it was almost like my lips absorbed the color and it faded to a sheer tint.
It's not coming across quite as matte brown and chalky as it looks in person in these photos, but it's definitely not a shade I would wear by itself.
The shade is a tad orange for my skin tone, but I found that using the Sorme liner and adding some lip balm over the top changed the color a bit and made it wearable for me.
Laritzy Lip Stix in Plum - Retail Value $20
Now, this is a color I was excited about! This formula is paraben free and has a nice moisturizing finish. This is meant to be a two-in-one product that you can use as both a liner and lipstick and this will be going in my purse as my new everyday color. This one has a slight shine when you apply it, but it wore down to a nice stain that lasted quite awhile.
This actually worked really well as a liner and was very buildable as a lip color. I tried to go light here, but it can definitely become pretty dark with just a few swipes.
This is what it looks like after wearing it for a while. It definitely wears down to more of a stain, but I found that I could make the color pop again by just adding a swipe of lip balm.
Swatches from top to bottom, Lip liner, Laritzy Lip Stix, and Bellapierre lipstick.
Noyah Organic Lip Balm in Vanilla - Retail Value $ 3.99
This organic and natural lip balm is very moisturizing and has a light scent with a slightly sweet flavor. It contains coconut oil, beeswax, and olive oil, so I am hoping it will help with the chapped lips I get each winter. This is the lip balm I used with all of the other products in my photos and it helped to give them a nice glossy, moisturized finish.
Verdict: Overall, I was happy with what I received this month from Lip Monthly and I thought that all of the shades were great once I figured out how to wear them. I like that they always send different types of products and that this month so many of them worked well together. My favorite is definitely the Laritzy Lip Stix and of course, you can't go wrong with lip balm in December. The total value of the items comes to $56.99 which is awesome for a $12.95 box. I feel like the lipsticks were a bit inflated in price, but this is still an average of $3.34 for each of the four products, which is a great value!
