Loot Fright "Season's Grievings" November 2018 Review
The box comes with a card detailing the items inside and also highlights the theme. I was wondering how they would go about creating a horror box during the holiday season and Season's Grievings seems like a clever way to do it!
Exclusive Look-See Pin
So I am feeling pretty behind on things since I am not familiar with this character, nor am I familiar with Crypt TV, which airs mostly on Facebook and YouTube. I am more of a classic horror fan, but I can totally appreciate that they included something from a series that isn't necessarily mainstream and especially that they dressed it up for the holidays! This pin features a small hole at the top that allows you to turn it into an ornament if you want and it even unlocks exclusive content from Crypt TV!
Exclusive Krampus Cookie Cutter Set
These exclusive cookie cutters in Krampus style were a great addition to this somewhat holiday-themed box! This set features five cookie cutters in various angry shapes; my favorite being the Gingerbread Man. I like that these are exclusive to Loot Fright and I especially appreciate that they are dishwasher safe!
Technically, I guess these are cookie stamps since you press down on the knob on the back to create your shape on your cookie. I haven't used them yet, but they seem to operate fairly smoothly and there are detailed directions to help!
Exclusive Krampus Cookie Plate
The second Krampus item is this exclusively designed melamine cookie plate for you to put your "naughty" cookies on when you are finished with them. This plate is dishwasher safe and features artwork from underground artist, Dave Quiggle.
Here's a closer look at the awesome artwork. The box says his work is tattoo inspired and this plate definitely has that feel to it!
Exclusive Mari Lwyd Keepsake
This ornament is the first in the upcoming Loot Fright Legends & Lore series and is based on a Welsh winter folk tradition, Mari Lwyd, where men accompanied by a horse skull would show up at your door begging to be let in. Sounds pretty spooky to me!
I was impressed with the quality of this ornament as it seems very well made and came in a nice box to either store it or gift it. It is heavy and detailed and actually very beautiful for a horse skull! It almost reminds me of something Georgia O'Keeffe might have designed, which I love.
Exclusive H.P. Lovecraft T-Shirt
I love the winter feel of this shirt with its various shades of blue! The design of this is so intricate, interesting and haunting, which is a perfect nod to H.P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness. The artwork is by Austin James and it features a subtle Loot Fright logo on the back. The shirt itself is soft and comfortable, but definitely on the smaller side, FYI!
The Verdict: I was not sure what to expect from my first Loot Fright box, but I was pretty impressed with the quality. This box was full of exclusive items that were designed just for this box, which I thought was great. The range of horror franchises and characters was pretty good too and I liked that they introduced some traditional folklore in the Mari Lwyd ornament. Overall, it was a nice curation and I appreciated their attention to detail.
