Let's dive into the items!

My Zodiac Box Leo leo candle My Zodiac Box Leo candle My Zodiac Box Leo candle bottom

Leo Zodiac Candle by Arabella Crystals - Retail Value $9.95 (found here for $4.75)

This candle has a beautiful cinnamon and vanilla scent. It also has a hidden tigers eye in it that I can't wait to discover and add to my collection. The wick is one of those really fun cracking wooden types, which I love listening to on a quiet night.

My Zodiac Box Leo lil cauldron My Zodiac Box Leo iron cauldron My Zodiac Box Leo tiny cauldron My Zodiac Box Leo cauldron bottom

Cast Iron Mini Cauldron

This is the cutest little thing! This tiny heavy cauldron is just the perfect size for burning incense or storing your favorite stones. I also used mine for smudging.

Dreamcatcher

I have very mixed feelings about commercial dream catchers, but I can understand why they wished to include on in this month's box with its focus on dreaming and astral travel. It would have been nice to know a little more info on where this one came from. It is wrapped in faux suede and has naturally colored feathers. If you would like to purchase a dream catcher of your own, I highly recommend buying a piece made by a Native/Indigenous American, as these pieces have deep cultural significance and it is always a good idea to support artisans from the culture of the item you are purchasing.

Carved Dreamcatcher Box - Retail Value $4.45

This is a beautiful box, but once again I really wish this item came with more info about its origins. This subscription always sends super curated items and I wish they took the opportunity to explain where the products came from and if they are Native-made since they specifically use Native American imagery. The box itself is really beautifully carved and perfect for stashing special letters, jewelry, or your favorite dried flowers or stones.

My Zodiac Box Leo smudge stick My Zodiac Box Leo smudge stick info My Zodiac Box Leo smudge stick open My Zodiac Box Leo smudge stick detail

Dream Spirit Smudge Stick

This smudge stick smells lovely. Smudging is another Native ritual that has become really "trendy" lately, so I feel it is only right to mention that the smudging ritual is sacred, meant for purification, and not to be taken lightly. There is also a lot of discussion right now regarding the sources of sage that ends up in commercial stores and I firmly believe in knowing where your botanicals come from and who they support. I highly recommend finding a responsible source for all your sage related smudging needs, or better yet, grow and make your own! Many different plants can be used in bundles. My personal favorites are a combination of lavender, my own garden sage, and rose petals.

My Zodiac Box Leo mungwort satchet My Zodiac Box Leo mungwort detail

Mugwort Sachet

This herb is said to encourage lucid dreaming, which seems really exciting! I have tried lucid dreaming a few times, always without success. I am totally going to stash this little sachet under my pillow tonight to see if I can finally do it!

Leo Journal

I never have enough journals and I love this one because I am very proud to be a bold Leo! I tried to find its value online, but the Etsy page on the back of the journal is not active.

My Zodiac Box Leo stone trio

Gemstone Trio- Lodolite, Kyanite, and Angelite

My Zodiac Box Leo angelite My Zodiac Box Leo angelite side My Zodiac Box Leo angelite detail

Blue Kyanite is an interesting stone because it neither accumulates or retains negative energy. It is a great stone for truth-speaking.

Lodolite is a type of included quartz and is also one of my favorite stones because the inclusions often look like little landscapes. Use this one for healing, cleansing, and energizing your space.

Angelite is one of the prettiest blue stones in my opinion. It is a soothing and spiritual stone that is known to be comforting in times of transition. Basically, it is the perfect stone to have close by for a new year.

The Verdict: My Zodiac Box always does a great job in curating items around a specific theme. Each item is always well thought out! I wish there had been more info regarding the items referencing or borrowing from Native American culture, but I did appreciate the extra info on how these items influence dreaming and astral walking practice. I also loved the beautiful stones and darling little cauldron sent this month. The candle had such a delicious scent and I never have enough journals!

To Wrap Up:

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Dream catchers have been “trendy” for decades. It’s only now that everyone is freaking out over them. Shrug…if it offends you don’t use them.

Oh please! Dream catchers have been “trendy” for decades. It’s only now that everyone is so sensitive and eager to be offended by everything that people are freaking out.

Yikes! I really like this box but the reviews are HORRENDOUS!
(And it’s sold out, so there’s that…)

Just a word of caution check the reviews before getting this box. Looks like they’ve been shipping out 1-2 months late

It’s going on 3 months for me now. I’ve sent multiple emails and messages and haven’t gotten a reply. Incredibly disappointed

Agreed. Maybe worth sending a message to them to cite their sources and encourage them to source from appropriate cultures? It seems like the kind of box that would care about that.

An interesting observation to me. It’s interesting that you mention the concern for the source of these, and for the cultural appropriation. But no such concern was mentioned with the Hamsa Hand from a previous box. Or the Zen meditation incense.

I’ve always found it curious how some cultural appropriation bothers our society and some does not. Myself included. I just think it’s a fascinating social study.

I totally agree with your comments Casey! The Hamsa is a little closer to home in my life so I didn’t even consider mentioning its cultural significance. I really appreciate you reading the review and your input. 🙂

I really appreciate your comments about sourcing materials and cultural appropriation. I typically enjoy this box, but several of the items also hit the same note with me.

I am glad you enjoyed the review Jackie! I think it’s really important to consider these sort of things and I have been trying to be a much more thoughtful consumer. I appreciate you taking the time to read and leave me a comment.

Since Native-made products are big sellers, I doubt any of the products were made by Native Americans. A company wouldn’t forget to disclose such a selling point.

Agreed. Native cultural appropriation by companies is a huge problem. If it was Native made, it’d have said so. Also, dreamcatchers are specific to one tribe, and incredibly spiritually and culturally significant, so just being “native” isn’t even enough. I’m Native, and I wouldn’t feel comfortable making and selling them.
