Robb Vices is a monthly luxury subscription box that sends subscribers a carefully curated assortment of high-end lifestyle goods that help you indulge your vices. Look forward to accessories, home decor, electronics, food, kitchen gadgets, and booze, booze, and more booze! The subscription is somewhat geared towards guys, but we've found that most of their boxes are perfectly unisex.

The packaging is a real showstopper. It's kind of like opening a suitcase in a Bond movie.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Robb Vices November 2018 Review

This month's box is coffee themed!

The box comes topped with a thorough booklet about the items inside. There are brand spotlights, an editor's note about the curation, and even some recipes in this month's mini magazine!

I got a few little extras in the box, including this coupon to New York Prime Beef.

I also got a card about different gifting options, including "Vices Reserve", the subscription box's new shop.

Mr. Black Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur - Retail Value $39.96

This coffee liqueur has a nice deep flavor. I'm a big fan of White Russians, and I'm thinking that incorporating this bitterly sweet liqueur with some fresh cream and vodka would make for a slightly richer version of the Kahlua-based cocktails I'm used to. It could also be a nice addition to a boozy mocha milkshake! Apart from the taste, I just liked the handsome design of the bottle. It looks prim and proper sitting on my bar.

Alessi Pulcina, 3-Cup Coffee Maker - Retail Value $90.00

This coffee maker is so cute! It's got plenty of European flair and sophistication, which is fun to have sitting in my very ho-hum Pennsylvanian kitchen. The idea is that you put water and coffee in the bottom chambers of the coffee maker, then set it on a low-heat stovetop to steep. The coffee actually bubbles up the carafe, so that you can pour high-quality coffee right out of the pitcher-style top once it's done. They make 6-cup versions, but I'm happy with this 3-cup one. It's more than enough for my coffee habits.

La Colombe Cornerstone Coffees Corsica Roast, 12 oz. - Retail Value $13.00

I got some new coffee to go with my Pulcina! The coffee did come as whole beans rather than grounds—I would've been happier to skip the grinding step, but I understand that whole beans probably lead to a fresher tasting blend after shipping. This coffee was deep and rich with chocolatey notes to it, but personally, it didn't strike me too differently than the darker roast coffees I might get at Starbucks. Keep in mind, however, that I do like Starbucks pretty well and that I'm not the most discerning coffee drinker, either!

La Colombe Draft Latte Variety 3-Pack - Buy a 4-Pack for $12.00 here

I've never tried a latte from a can before, and to be honest, it didn't really wow me. I did appreciate the smoothness that the "draft" brought to each can (I got vanilla, triple, and original), and the slight sweetness was nice. I would happily drink one of these chilled, pop-top cans as a grab-and-go option when I was on my way to work or out to run holiday errands, but I can't say I'll pick them up again. (I think I've seen these at my local Whole Foods, so if I did crave 'em, I know where I can find them!)

Madame Paulette Professional Stain Remover Kit - Buy 5 for $39.99 here (Found here for $29.99)

I thought this was a fun, cheeky addition to this box. Coffee spills are no fun, especially if you're at or on your way to work. So these little packets absorb, treat, and rinse stains away via easy to use wipes. I think this is pretty clever, and nothing I'd ever think to keep on hand myself. I did a little test and found that they're pretty darn effective—much more immediately effective than my usual Tide stain stick, which tends to just pre-treat stains for the laundry later.

Verdict: I liked that this month's Robb Vices box touched on coffee but didn't forget to include the unique alcohol that so many subscribers look forward to from this subscription! I'm keeping all of these items for myself, but I could see gifting the Pulcina or the coffee liqueur to someone if coffee flavors aren't your thing. Everything is SUCH nice quality. And the presentation of this box really knocks it out of the park. (I feel like it looks like a James Bond briefcase!) If you're looking for an impressive gift, this subscription box is one I'd recommend. One thing I will note, however, is that the retail value of the items inside doesn't quite reach the total cost (including shipping) of the box. (Estimating the values of the stain kit and coffee cans, I got a total of about $157.96, while the cost + shipping is $174.90.) Obviously you're paying for the curation and the presentation as well, but just know this box isn't a deal, so much as it's a handsomely curated experience.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Sign up by the 1st of the month to receive that month's box.

LIMITED TIME DEAL: Use coupon code KNOCK60 to save $60 when you sign up for a 3-month or longer subscription! (Regularly $389.85 for a 3-month subscription.)

Value Breakdown: This box cost $174.90 (cost + $14.95 shipping to PA). The items I could find individual retail values for totaled $142.96, meaning the remaining value that should be made up by the stain remover kit and coffee trio is $31.94.

Anyone who is considering this sub BEWARE! They never sent out an August 2018 Box and now it is Jan 2019 and they never sent out a December 2018 box. ZERO communications from them! RUN from this sub as all they do is take your $$$ and string you along!

I had to call Robb Vices support because they forgot to send me this box as my make up box for the Summer box no shipping debacle. They finally sent it and it arrived on 12/28. To my surprise the coffee beans had an expiration date of 11/08/18 and the coffee drinks had also all just expired! Has Robb Vices gone so down hill that they are now shipping leftover, expired products that nobody else can unload? Not what I would expect from a “luxury” box. Did anyone else check the expiration dates on their products and have the same issue? I’ve now given up and unsubscribed. The value is gone, the products are not worth the cost and are now even past their sell dates!

This is a dream box for me. Love coffee and love the curation. However, I agree with other commenters. Wayyyy expensive.

I’m fortunate enough to still have the grandfathered pricing, so at about 1/2 the cost I think it was a decent box and worth the money. Not my favorite, but certainly not my least favorite (record player).
The canned coffee says “don’t shake”. This I learned after the first one foamed out of the can after I opened it. Absentmindedly, I continue to do the same with the other two cans. Really, don’t shake them. Even so, I really did like them.

I think the little pot is really cute. I’m not sure if I’ll ever use it, but I have it displayed on a shelf. I think they did a good job with the theme.

The coffee beans were expired, but they’re fine.

I would never sign up for this at the current rate, and I wish they’d get their act together and ship the boxes earlier in the month like they used to.

I’ve discovered a few things in these boxes that I’ve purchased again. I’ve looked for the Alkamist Gin every where and can’t find the it anywhere. I eventually contacted the company who told me it should be available in my state next year…fingers crossed. In the meantime, I’m waiting for the gin to be available in Robbvices shop—on its own, not in the box (the meat had a rancid taste I’d never want to experience again).

I love this box! I know it is expensive, and you are paying for the “experience”…but I really liked this experience. The coffee liqueur was amazing, and I will be buying it again (soon). I promise I am not a schill…I really hope this box keeps going, as some of us really like it (most of the time).

I have been subscribed to this one from the beginning and am grandfathered in on my pricing. This continues to be the box we look forward to each month.

We loooooooved this box and looked forward to it every month. After the 5th box in a row was significantly late (or didn’t arrive at all – August?), we ended the subscription. I was afraid they would go out of business suddenly and we’d lose our money. It was really a shame, since I can’t stress enough how much we enjoyed the curation – even the ones that other people didn’t.

I’m an avid reader of MSA and try to guess the prices on boxes I don’t subscribe to. The price on this was a bit of a shock. This box would have been great if you loved coffee but what if you didn’t? Almost the entire box would have been a miss.

Hmmm….. posted 3 hours ago and don’t see my comments….. it wasn’t inappropriate why is it being held up MSA? Same with my Margo Elena comment now that I’m checking…..

I wanted to sub to this 2+ years ago, when they were offering a discount. The site was glitching and not processing orders that day and when I went back to reorder, the CS rep told me the discount was no longer valid. I sent screenshots to show where I’d definitely tried to purchase within the time frame but they refused to assist me or honor the deal, with basically a terse “SoL” reply. Now I am relieved that I dodged a bullet that they wouldn’t process my order because the boxes have been terrible since then! Terrible Customer service is costing them.

I’m grandfathered in at a much lower price so the value is still there for me and I really enjoy the box. I would never ever pay $175.00. I don’t know what they’re thinking. I’ll miss this box if it goes under. I just opened my December box and I like it but I am certain some subscribers will not for $175

Tia Brohas

What did you get for December? I haven’t got it yet and it was supposed to be my last one.

Michelle

We subscribed for all of 2017 for about $67/month and it was sometimes worth it. We got a fabulous stelle speaker and a bunch of booze plus great tenderloin for last year’s holiday dinner. We still have a super fancy bottle of tequila and a nice bottle of wine. We just sold the champagne saber for $100, and I think those fancy sunglasses were sold for less. I swapped the smoking gun and the sex paint kit. The annual was fun at the price but we didn’t resubscribe. At the current price there’s no way.

Karol

Is this November ‘s box or December’s box? It’s coming in late December and I can’t remember if I actually got a November one. So when will we get December?
I called and the person was away from her desk. Let’s see if I get a call back.

This was November. My December box is scheduled to arrive 12/26

I keep reading the reviews hoping this box improves but NO, it definitely hasn’t. We subbed a year ago and then gave up after the champagne Sabre. Ridiculous!!! This sub is so overpriced and the “experience” is just bad.

Reply ButtonReply

Vicki

I have a sword collection and dropped a few grand on Marto swords in Spain, so I may be the only person who really would like a champagne saber.
That being said, it’s not worth nearly what they are charging.
I would try to swap for one, but it doesn’t look like it’s great quality.

This box and Breo used to be awesome! But they have both raised the prices on their boxes and not only has the curation gone down but so has the value. Very disappointed in both! If the price goes up the value should go up not down. I’m done with both of these!

I subscribed for 3 months as a birthday gift to myself back in June when they offered a free Breville Smoking Gun with a subscription and I had been looking forward to treating myself. I must say, I was SO disappointed with the 3rd box (the gin one, mine without the gift card it was supposed to include) after their shipping debacle of the July box that I insisted on a partial refund. To their credit, I received a partial refund, but I will not be subscribing again. The value stinks. I wish they still put out boxes like the reviews I read on here from a year ago. Really sad what has happened with Robb Vices as the concept is cool.

This box will be history soon. This is our last month, I double checked and made sure we were CANCELLED as I am SO done with it. We have been members for over two years and pay about $360 for 6 months….and it is still NOT WORTH IT! Thought we had cancelled it six months ago, but there are TWO boxes you have to unsubscribe from.

This is just a ridiculous sub overall. It used to be fun and something to look forward to, but after this utterly dismal year where we didn’t even get an August box, we QUIT.

There is no ‘experience’ to be had anymore. They even changed the packing material to some stuff rigid foam about 6 months ago. This box is overpriced hype. $170.00 a month…give me a break!!!

Tom

It will be out of business soon. Can’t see how they retain any subscribers. Over priced and while I agree curation is good, you can put this together yourself if you live in a reasonably large metro area. 30$ of the value in stain remover wipes?

DawnS

Nope nope nope, not for the cost.

Alex

It absolutely blows my mind how expensive this sub has gotten.
