Scentbird is a perfume subscription where you choose one fragrance per month. They offer a variety of authentic designer scents and allow you to narrow down by either traditional categories for notes (e.g., floral, woody, spicy, etc.) or more general descriptive terms (e.g., mysterious, classic, flirty). Subscribers also receive a monthly discount code that can be used on full-size bottles of perfume or cologne from the Scentbird shop.
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Scentbird November 2018 Review
This month, I received Scentbird’s “Scent of the Month.” You can either opt for the scent of the month or you can fill a queue with fragrances of your choosing:
There was what is basically an advertising flyer for this month’s scent, “Jason Wu” by Jason Wu.
This month, because I received a new holder, the fragrance was packaged in this pouch.
Jason Wu – Estimated Value $18.94 (buy 1 fl oz for $70)
This is a new brand for me (actually a new brand overall; the fragrance line was just launched in 2017). I know designers typically give their names to fragrances but I find it a little funny to have someone ask me what my perfume is and me to say a man’s name in response.
Anyway, this is an interesting take on a floral. I got a bit of a citrus vibe when I put it on, although there are no citrus notes in there. Perhaps it is the combination of pink pepper and fig and I am just not describing it well? I generally like pink pepper in fragrances and I am a fan of fig, as well (I don’t always like fruity fragrances but I am more apt to be a fan when the fruits are a little off the beaten path, and you don’t honestly see fig all that often).
This also has peony, lily of the valley, and jasmine sambac and it definitely is a floral fragrance, but I think the aforementioned fig and pink pepper and also the musk base add interest and I am more of a fan of this than I thought I’d be when I read the description.
This lasts an average time for an Eau de parfum (about half a day for me if I don’t douse myself in it) and sillage is moderate. I don’t think I will reach for this every day, but it is definitely something I will wear once in a while.
Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrance this month is $18.92, which is above the month-to-month cost of the subscription. Your value will depend entirely on what fragrance you choose and if you care to do the math beforehand, you can come out pretty well. For me, though, this is more about discovering fragrances that will work for me, and if they have a bit of a lower value, I can deal with that. Anyway, this fragrance took me a little outside my comfort zone but not so much so as to be completely foreign or unfamiliar. Also I do appreciate receiving something fairly new (they mix it up with the scent of the month; sometimes you may receive a fragrance that’s been around for awhile).
Please note: Some MSA readers have been having trouble getting their Scentbird shipments on time lately so be sure to read the comments on some of the past reviews to get a sense of what the issues are when making the decision to sign up. I am pretty sure this is November’s shipment for me, although I can’t blame Scentbird for that entirely because ALL of my mail has been slow since Black Friday.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose this fragrance for your queue.
Value Breakdown: This subscription is $14.95/monthly and this month, I received $18.92 worth of fragrance (but again, this is highly variable based on what scent or product you choose).
