Standard Dispatch's logo mentions "durable goods built for purpose" so I imagine anything that would aid in getting things done would be included.

style choices

When you subscribe, you pick from 4 different style options: Traditional Monogram, Art Deco Single Letter, Full Name, and Bold Single Letter. John chose Art Deco Single Letter with a "D" for DeLucas.

Standard Dispatch October 2018 Review

Since this subscription is targeted towards men, I'm having John help me unbox and review the items. The example images for  Standard Dispatch show things like tools, knives, and journals as items that might be included in the box. This month includes a french press and coffee beans. We are coffeeosaurs, so even though this wasn't quite the item we expected, it is a welcome addition to our kitchen gadget collection.

A little information card is included with some info about the items for the month. They've also listed a website to visit for more info on how to use the items.

Bamboo French Press

John was pleasantly surprised when he opened up this package to find a french press and coffee beans (below). As I mentioned before, we are coffee lovers and use our french press all the time. Yes, we have one already; we received a beautiful copper french press as a wedding gift. But, John travels a lot and this is perfect for him to take on the road so he can still have good coffee no matter where he is. The bamboo makes it super light and the size is perfect for one large Yeti mug for John to sip on throughout the morning. Plus, he loves that it has a D on it so everyone knows it's his.

The plunger moves up and down smoothly and the mesh is fine enough to filter out coarse or medium grounds. To clean, you just slide out the glass beaker and hand wash (or dish wash if you're lazy like us). For the plunger, it mostly just gets a hot rinse right after brewing since we don't want to risk putting the wood in the dishwasher.

What's better than experiencing new coffee beans? These beans are medium in roast and full of dark chocolate and nutty notes. I drink black coffee (with Torani Syrup sometimes) and John likes non-dairy creamer in his. We both enjoyed the flavor of this coffee with our respective concoctions. No bitterness, smooth flavors, and not too dark makes for a nice balance and pleasing taste for most people.

The Verdict: John is pleased with his first month of Standard Dispatch. I can see the coffee theme being a little iffy for those that don't enjoy coffee, but you could also use this for brewing tea or infusing other beverages, so hopefully, anyone could find a use. For us, it works! I love trying new small brands of coffee so I find great value in that. I think the personalization adds a touch of value to the French press but since we already have one, I can't say it blows me away. I do think this subscription is super giftable though. Let's see what next month delivers to us!

To Wrap Up:

This looks a good box for young people starting out on their own. I have 2 young adult sons and am thinking about subscribing!

Seems overpriced. I bought plenty of french presses and you can get them for less then $10.
