Winter 2018 Super Geek Box Prime Review
The first-ever shipment of Super Geek Box Prime features 6 items across multiple franchises.
It comes with this little pamphlet that details each item.
Past Super Geek Boxes came with a little button, so naturally, the Prime edition would come with a big button.
Pika Chews Shirt - Value $15?
The first item is an exclusive t-shirt. It features a design we saw on a different type of item way back in March 2016. Super Geek box typically has designs and mashups or a play on a character like this - so I feel this is a good representation of the designs you can expect.
Mario Ghost Sweatshirt - Value $25?
This is a new product for the Prime line - a sweatshirt. This one features Mario and those dang ghosts!
It glows in the dark to reveal what you're up against.
Pacman Socks - Value $15-20?
You'll get two pairs of Pacman themed socks - blue and red.
Wear them as a set of mix and match.
Overall, the quality of the sock is pretty good - more along the lines of a dress sock - no heel or toe support and a bit on the thin side.
OK - that wraps up the exclusive items from this box.
Funko Mystery Mini Plushies - Value $3.33 a piece
You'll get a Funko Mystery Mini Plushie featuring a Star Wars character - I got C-3PO, who did you get? I actually ended up cutting the tag and giving this to our small dog as a perfectly sized toy for him.
Funko Marvel 1,000 Piece Puzzle - Value $8 on Amazon
You'll get this puzzle from featuring Funko characters as well. It even comes with a Pocket POP (mine was Thor, but I'm not sure if it's the same for everyone).
Just reading about this puzzle online gave a mixed opinion - with some people actually receiving it with missing pieces.
The Pocket Pop may raise the value of this a little more as I can't find one on Amazon with the little figure. As always, my recommendation for Pocket POPs is to unscrew the keychain and use them as tiny desktop POPs!
Stroom Trooper Water Bottle - Value $10 on Amazon
The next item is a water bottle from Zak.
It's BPA-Free and dishwasher safe. I actually really like the design of the water bottle itself, so the Star Wars aspect is kind of a bonus.
Pikachu Metal Keyring - Value $9 on Amazon
The final item in the box goes with the shirt - it's a little metal Pikachu keyring.
Verdict: I've always felt that Super Geek Box was more geared toward a younger audience and the Prime subscription seems to feel the same way. $66 shipped is pretty pricey for what was once one of the most affordable geek boxes, so I think you'll really need to love the designs and styles before deciding to subscribe. My values did come out around $100 - and I'm betting the puzzle is a bit more value - so they did deliver on the value side. Overall, I was getting weary on the Super Geek Box clothing items in the regular box and this feels like we're about to get much more of it - so the jury is very out on this one for me.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. You'll start with the second shipment.
