October 2018 #curated VNYL Review
My November deliver crushes the selection like no other month ever has! It features albums from Nine Inch Nails, Tame Impala, and Run The Jewels.
It comes with a handwritten note from your personal curator to give some thought and detail behind the selections.
Nine Inch Nails - Bad Witch
Bad Witch is the third EP in a series of 3, and the latest from Nine Inch Nails. I'm a long-time fan of Nine Inch Nails - I think one of the first CDs I've ever owned was the 'Head Like a Hole' slimcase single - I can still remember Trent's silver face with the lyrics over top. Since then, they've been up there with a constant favorite of mine.
I can probably pull about 7-8 songs that I'm really into from the 3 EPs, and this EP has 2 of them on it right from the get-go. I was excited to see that they used my profile a little bit better here to pull albums for me this month - it couldn't have started any better than this.
Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels
For me, RTJ is head and shoulders above everything in the hip-hop/rap genre at the moment - and each album gets progressively better, front to back. This is a reissue of their debut LP.
It's pressed onto this beautiful orange vinyl!
It also arrives with a little RTJ patch.
Run The Jewels aren't really a secret anymore - and this LP definitely does an excellent job at announcing themselves to the world. I can't recommend their albums enough.
Tame Impala - Currents
My final album is Tame Impala's 3rd LP - Currents.
This album is another that just knocks it out of the park. They're very much the style of band I love to pop onto the turntable and just let it go - they tend to have those catchy little hooks and verses while being kind of lo-fi and all over the place genre-wise. I'm also still not sick of their hits - which is always a big plus for me.
Verdict: VNYL absolutely crushed it this month in terms of selection. My big issue - I already own all three of these records (worry not, they found a good home) - so I think it's going to be on me to create a discogs account to (hopefully) avoid duplicates in the future - I'll be testing that out for future reviews.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? This subscription is customized to your music preferences. While you may select the same 'vibe' as me, you likely won't receive the same three albums as I do.
