Enclosed in the box is an info card describing the products and the product ingredients.

ZaaBox Women of Color November 2018 - Envelope & Handwritten Front

Each month the founder Mr. Strong sends a handwritten note, which leaves me blushing.

ZaaBox Women of Color November 2018 - Balancing Nectar Body Oil Front

Balancing Nectar Body Oil – Estimated Value $8.00 (Buy an 8oz bottle for $16.00, currently sold out)

This body oil is infused with dried organic rose buds, and chamomile flowers, to calm my body and senses. There’s a mix of olive, rosehip oil, and aloe vera to seal in the moisture after my shower. The oil left my skin soft. The oil is lightly scented and not appeasing; the aroma may be suiting for others just not for me. That didn’t hinder the use of the body oil. Also, there was no greasy residue.

ZaaBox Women of Color November 2018 - Unwind Pillow Unwind Pillow + Body Mist FrontZaaBox Women of Color November 2018 - Unwind Pillow Unwind Pillow + Body Mist Ingredients Front

Unwind Pillow + Body Mist, 4oz – Retail Value $24.00

This pillow and body mist intend to relieve stress with its essential oils, promote relaxation, feelings of happiness, healthy digestion and a balanced mind. I spritzed my body, pillow, and sheets and enjoyed the soothing aroma and slowly drifted off to sleep. As I was reviewing and writing this, I noticed the ingredients and no specific essential oils were listed and ingredients that were foreign to me; one particular ingredient is listed as one of the top ten chemicals to avoid in skin care, butylene glycol. This was alarming since I already used and now I am considering not using in the future.

ZaaBox Women of Color November 2018 - Sunkissed Sugar Scrub FrontZaaBox Women of Color November 2018 - Sunkissed Sugar Scrub Open Top

Sunkissed Sugar Scrub – Estimated Value $10.00

This type of sugar scrub is familiar, a similar body product was in a previous box I reviewed. The texture is creamy, whipped, fluffy, slightly thick, and a lovely floral, aroma. I used the scrub in the shower, and a little goes a long way, it was lathering, smooth, cleansing, will leave you feeling fresh, and glides and blends onto my skin for a light, sweet exfoliation. The product didn’t have any manufacturer info and the info card yielded zero results.

ZaaBox Women of Color November 2018 - Rejuvenating Under Eye Serum Full FrontZaaBox Women of Color November 2018 - Rejuvenating Under Eye Serum Top

Rejuvenating Under Eye Serum, 18 ml – Retail Value $16.00

This under-eye roller-ball serum intends to lighten dark spots and restore a brighter, even-toned skin. The roller-ball has a cooling sensation when applied under my eye area. I don’t have dark circles and can't speak to the effectiveness of the product.

ZaaBox Women of Color November 2018 - Phillip Ashley Chocolates Top

Phillip Ashley Chocolates- Estimated Value $9.17 (buy a 12-piece box here for $55)

I received a small box with two circular chocolates in the flavor sweet, sweet potato pie. The dark chocolate was sweet with a creamy center. It did not taste like sweet potato pie. The chocolates were handcrafted in small batches using the finest ingredients with fair trade chocolate. I didn’t find this particular set of chocolate on their website, so the value is an estimate.

The Verdict: Another enjoyable box and ZaaBox continues to pamper me monthly as well as leaving me blushing from the handwritten note from Mr.Strong. This month’s $67.17 value is slightly higher than some previous boxes. This month’s “Luxe Unwind” theme was perfect for the cold weather that tends to leave my skin dry; the products will hydrate and moisturize my skin and, with the exception of the one product with harsh chemicals, it was an enjoyable box.

We’re glad that you enjoyed the pillow & body mist spray. Just to put you at ease butylene glycol is a safe ingredient – https://www.paulaschoice.com/ingredient-dictionary/texture-enhancer/butylene-glycol.html

I think the notes are hilarious and help pull the theme together. This box would not be the same without it.

Whenever I read these reviews, the notes from Mr. Strong make me uncomfortable. I think it’s weird to get a note like that from a stranger. I don’t find it romantic or exciting.

I definitely agree that our box and our note is not for everyone, but most of our customers enjoy the romantic experience of the note, with that being said all customers have the ability to either not receive a note at all or receive a toned down version of the note.

LOL! I was thinking the same thing. It just seems strange to have a stranger talk about holding you in their arms.

Norelle

Yes! I always am creeped out by the note in this box when I read the review!

This looks like a cool box, and I enjoy reading the reviews each month. However, does anyone else find the handwritten notes from “Mr. Strong” to be borderline creepy?! I used to work at a boutique where we sent a handwritten thank you note with each order talking about the clothing, and I think it’s a nice touch. But receiving a note like the one enclosed seems like it’s borderline sexual harassment my mail! It’s kind of awkward to read it each month, lol.

I agree. Nothing about the notes in these boxes leave me blushing at all. It’s just weird and creepy to me.

All of our customer have the option to not receive the note or receive a toned down version of the note that month, but that being said, we will make sure all of our notes going forward are more toned down.

LisaFalana

Agreed. His other notes were OK I guess, but this one made me uncomfortable. And I can’t imagine my husband would be thrilled either.

We will definitely that that into consideration when the future notes are written. Thanks for the feedback!
