BarkBox is a monthly subscription box for dogs. It’s one of our favorite subscription boxes – our dog loves it, and we’ve gifted it to dogs in our extended family as well!
BarkBox customizes your box to your dog’s size. For reference, this review is for the small size (our dog weighs 14 pounds). Check out Trevor's recent review of the super chewer box!
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

December 2018 Barkbox Review
This month's delivery was a return to normal after last month's special edition box. But, of course, it included more super-cute Barkshop toys.
It arrives with an information card with details about the items in the box.
It has some pop-out board game pieces and this little wheel.
Buckles has no time for board games - Let's unbox!
The Soup Troop - Value $10
There's not too much more satisfying than a bowl of warm hearty soup on a freezing cold day like today. This first toy gets your pup into the cold-weather vibe with a squeaky and crinkly soup toy.
This was a perfect size for Buckles. The little vegetables weren't removable - but that didn't stop him from tossing it around the room.
Classic Hygge Girl Squirrel - Value $10?
This one was marked as sold-out on the app and didn't include a price, so I'm ballparking the value based on similar Barkbox toys.
Like most of their toys, there are multiple things to keep a pup busy - it's crinkly, there's a big ol' tube squeaker in there, and the squirrel has a bushy tail.
Which is ALWAYS what Buckles goes for first.
Henrik's Holiday Ham - Value $8
Both bags of treats have been massive hits for Buckles. Let's start with the holiday ham - they're wheat, soy, corn, and grain-free - all of the checkboxes.
Both bags of treats smell really good to me - and Buckles loses his mind over both.
Greta's Gourmet Turkey - Value $8
The second bag is a turkey treat - so my favorite holiday meats have been covered by Barkbox. These are wheat, soy, and corn-free - while they aren't grain-free, Buckels can still have these.
And he couldn't be happier that he could - these have been his go-to treats at the office for the past month or so.
Thinkers Duck Stick - Value $3
Typically, the final item is a chew of some sort - this month was a softer beef stick. So, I figure Buckles would love to try it...
This is my shocked face as he escaped with the full stick! After some back and forth, I broke a small piece off for him.
Needless to say, he's into this duck stick after trying to snag the entire thing.
Verdict: I love doing these little photoshoots with Buckles and he loves the items - it's really a win-win situation. This month returned to the more typical delivery, and I think they nailed all 5 items for Buckles this month.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Customer care let us know that your first box will now always be either their Welcome Box or the current month’s box, followed by the normal schedule the following month.
