December 2018 Brick Loot “Adventure Under the Sea” Review

Brick Loot December 2018 - All Product

This month the later builds are related to the theme, while some of the smaller items are more general LEGO accessories. I like the mix included this month – so let’s get started on our builds!

Exclusive! 100% LEGO Build Designed by Tyler Clites

The first build contained 61 pieces and a detailed instruction insert explaining how to make this nifty seahorse. This set is exclusively designed for Brick Loot by Tyler Clites. I think that the directions were easy to follow, and I loved how playful this build was! The seahorse has a lot of ball joints enabling you to bend its tail any which-way you want!

Mini City “Aquarium” – Value $12.49? (Based on a similar item here)

This Mini City Aquarium is 136 pieces and much like the other mini city builds that I’ve received, I quite enjoyed both building this aquarium and adding it to my collection of mini buildings! The instructions were clear and easy for me to follow. I loved the result and the detail that this little building featured. Working doors, real windows, a few decals to add detail, and even a whale on top!

Mega Cape Pack – Retail Value $7.99

Turn your LEGO Minifigures into Super Heros! This assorted fabric package of 35 different capes and accessories has something for everyone. You can see that my Aquaboy selected a collared off-white cape for his grand adventures in the photos below. To apply these capes you just slip them over the arms of your mini figures.

Minifigure Display Keychain – Retail Value $3.88

This fun little display keychain fits one Minifigure perfectly. This would be an adorable ornament on your tree or an embellishment on a child's backpack. This item comes in red, blue, and green – I received the green version.

Aquaboy LEGO Minifigure – Value $15? (Based on a similar item here)

Each month, a 100% LEGO custom mini-figure is created to match the theme. These figures can be quite collectible and retail for $15.00 on the site. Aquaboy is in full superhero gear – complete with a trident.

Brick Loot December 2018 - Iron On Patch

Iron On Patch

The last item is a 2" x 4" iron-on patch featuring icons and the words "eat, sleep, build." This would again be a cute addition to a child's backpack, or even something you could iron on to a piece of clothing or simply hang on a corkboard in their bedroom or playroom.

Verdict: This was a great box and I think the underwater theme is one that would be loved by many people. This is the first month in a while that didn't include light of some type – and I'm totally fine with that. I felt like this box went back to basics and included some really fun stuff and quality builds. Value is hard to quantify since so many of these items are exclusive to this box. I paid $33 ($27 + $6 shipping) – and I think that the actual retail value is at least that amount, if not a little higher, so I do feel like I got a solid value.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. You’ll find the current available theme in their top banner of the website.

Value Breakdown: Since this box costs $33.00 with shipping, each of the 6 items inside has an average cost of $5.50

To apply the capes you actually align the holes over the top of the torso, before putting the minifig’s head on 🙂 They don’t go over their arms.

Interesting, I’ll have to try that! Although, with the collar on this one I think it is on correctly, no?

I think you are both right. Most capes do go over the post before you put the head on, but looking at the pic of all the capes you get in this set, the off-white one Colette chose, as well as similar ones in black and brown, wouldn’t really work over the head post (it would bunch up weirdly) so I think an arms-through-the-holes approach is correct here. It should really come with an explanation of how all the capes should look when applied since there are some really unique ones in the pack!
