Kira Kira Crate “Fall Glow” Review
This box always comes with a booklet that describes all the items and how to use them, which is great because the majority of the packaging is written in Japanese! They also feature customer photos that use the hashtag #kirakiracrate to share on social media and include a great how-to on using the items in the box. The theme this month is “Fall Glow,” which is something I can really get behind. I’m all about getting glowier! Let’s see if the items inside the box deliver on the theme.
Botanical All-In-One Gel
Reminding me so strongly of aloe, this product was the most intriguing of the bunch - both visually and in its function! This is full of fruit extracts, but surprisingly, doesn’t smell like much of anything at all; and believe me, I sniffed it like crazy! I tried it on my legs because they get super-dry in the winter, and I thought it worked pretty well. This was a gel-consistency, but it absorbed into my skin nicely without being sticky.
Under Eye Patches
Little spot treatments, like eye patches, are incredibly useful for targeting certain problem areas. I definitely suffer from under-eye puff, so these were a welcome sight in the box this month! These were a nice take on the product; you use them overnight and according to the pamphlet, they can be used multiple times for as long as the adhesive holds out. I thought they had a nice “grip” to them, and there was something soothing about making these a part of my evening routine for the night. I thought they did pretty well to keep me depuffed.
Yuzu 3-Piece Bath Set
Yuzu, how I love you! I was only introduced to this citrus fruit last year, but it has easily become one of my very favorite smells and flavors. It’s like a citrus party for the nose, with notes of grapefruit, lime, and orange coming through. This trio of bath treats could not have been more welcome; it included a salted bath tablet, a packet of onsen salt soak, and a deliciously retro bath oil ampoule that took me way back to my childhood. The smell was beautiful and it seemed like everything made my skin pretty soft!
Shimmery Cream Eyeshadow Base
It’s been a while since I’ve received a makeup item in this subscription! This eyeshadow base is such a useful product - I love products that can be used alone, or in conjunction with other products. The shade of this is nice and neutral, with just the right amount of shimmer, and it blends nicely into the skin. I’ll likely use this as a super-quick eyeshadow alternative, but it would make an awesome highlighter, too!
Pore Cleaning Stick
Readers, I have a horrible confession to make. I’m obsessed with blackhead popping videos! My husband thinks it’s so, so gross, but I love watching them. Okay, my dark secret is out - I feel better now. I do strongly believe in being extremely sanitary in this process, and a great tool for it is an exfoliator like this one, sometimes also called an “extractor.” This is nice because it has one looped side for blackheads and the other, cupped end is intended for whiteheads. I was delighted to find this in the box because frankly, it saved me from having to buy one!
Verdict: It felt like this month’s box was tailor-made for me! My beloved yuzu scent came to me in the form of the bath set, the under eye patches and botanical gel were useful, and I know I’m going to be using the shimmery eyeshadow base regularly. Let’s also not forget - this month my pore-cleaning dreams came true in the form of my very own extractor, which I can use to pop blackheads and whiteheads to my little heart’s content! I really liked that the items this month had a good variety, and are either easily used right away or on the smaller side. Sometimes getting a lot of products every month can be a little overwhelming, so when I receive useful - but small - items, it makes for an even better experience for me personally.
