Kira Kira Crate “Refreshment on the Go” Review
This box always comes with a booklet that describes all the items and how to use them, which is great because the majority of the packaging isn’t written in English! They also feature customer photos that use the hashtag #kirakiracrate to share on social media and include a great how-to on using the items in the box. The theme for this box is “Refreshment on the Go,” which I’m hoping is a mix of items to keep me put together while I’m out and about! Let’s see if that’s the case, shall we?
Hair Water Baby
I had super-high hopes for this pretty pink hair product. It promises to “tame and smooth” hair if you’re a bit disheveled from the day. Who couldn’t use that? However, even though this smelled super-good in the bottle, the second it hit my hair, it became really...stinky! Seriously, readers, I was shocked. My hair smelled, and even my hands where it touched it smelled bad, maybe a little fishy? I’ve never experienced anything like it before, but I was disappointed. This seemed like a great product to stick in a purse, but I just don’t see myself reaching for this again.
Saborino Sheet Mask
Yikes! Foiled by another smell! I wouldn’t necessarily have thought twice about this, but the pamphlet specifically said that these are lightly scented, and that’s not quite true: these are intense. The packaging is clever; I really like how it’s resealable, but as soon as I opened it - whoa! I think these must be mentholated because they smell exactly like cough drops. They’re supposed to work in 60 seconds, and I’m glad; I wouldn’t have wanted this on my face for any longer than that. My skin seemed a little more moisturized after using, but not enough to make me want to grab another one of these.
My Melody Nail Files
There is never a day when I don’t need an emery board when I’m out and about! I think I’ve successfully supplied every single drawer and purse with emery boards. These ones are so incredibly cute! I really love the little designs and they’re the perfect “grit,” if you will - they’re strong enough to buff out a snag, but not so intense that I’ll scratch one of my nails if I grab them wrong.
Peach Hand Cream
I tend to really like the hand creams in this box, and this one is very much like others of its kind; thick when being squeezed out of the container, but emollient when rubbed into the skin. This stuff isn’t greasy at all; it’s super-lightweight and so moisturizing. I will say that it doesn’t smell like peach at all, but to me, that’s not a bad thing: I find the lightly citrus, bordering-on-yuzu scent extremely appealing.
Biore Face Refresh Sheet
If there was a dark horse in this box, these awesome wipes are it! I’m familiar with Biore since it’s something I use here at home, and these lovely scented wipes come in a convenient resealable package that’s perfect for a purse or bag. The smell is beautiful and lingers a bit on my hands after using; it’s floral with a little bit of a sweetness that reminds me of caramel. These claimed in particular to eliminate sebum, and I can back that up - my nose feels way less oily than it did just a couple of moments before using! If there was any flaw, it’s that my skin was feeling a tiny bit dry, but nothing my normal facial moisturizer wouldn’t be able to resolve.
Verdict: A bit of a mixed bag this month, but I’m always happy to try new products! I liked the wipes, hand cream, and nail files so much, and they were great products that worked perfectly with the theme. I had some misses this month with the strange occurrence with the scent-changing hairspray, and the very menthol face masks, but I think the idea of a hair refreshing spray is genius and I might try to look for something similar. I do love that this box always gives me ways to change up my skincare and haircare routines, so I’m still excited to see what will arrive next time!
