Papergang is a monthly stationery subscription box from quirky UK design team, Ohh Deer. Each month they partner with a different artist and have a theme to bring you paper goods and desk accessories.
Each month's packaging is not only eye-catching, it's often heart-flutteringly good, and acts as the perfect preview to the theme of the box. It's often designed by a featured artist each month, but sometimes it's whipped up by the in-house team at Ohh Deer, as is the case this month. The theme is this brilliantly text-book-ish nature design with pink and purple tones.
The flip side of the box always features a cut-out craft, and this month it isn't so much a craft as a cut-out card you can stick to your fridge or in the corner of your mirror. It offers 12 suggestions of how to reduce your impact on the Earth. They range from rather straightforward, commonly known ideas, like "Recycle all that you can," to more challenging lifestyle changes like "Have a go at buying your food from bulk stores." Having these reminders available to see throughout your week is a great idea!
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Papergang January 2019 Review
Papergang includes a fun little info booklet each month that matches the box and theme of the contents! Care to take a peek inside with me?
Under the front cover is a list with the contents of this month's box (Box #35). On the opposite page is a little intro getting us set up for the Earth-loving goodness that appears on the next spread.
Here, Papergang departs from the usual artist interview to highlight a few animals on the endangered list. They give a little overview of the situation with each and offer some suggestions for ways of lessening your impact.
On the left, there's some info about the harsh realities of plastics, carbon, and deforestation. Each paragraph is a good jumping-off point for starting your own research! On the right, they give some love to TreeAid, who they pair up with at all times to plant one tree for every 4 boxes sold.
On the back cover is an ad for their referral program. A program that leads to a free box, woo! Do it, dudes! Find out more info about their referral program at papergang.ohhdeer.com/faq.
A4ish Lined Notebook - Listed Value About $3.54 USD (£4.95)
I'm so glad this paperback notebook was included because on it you can see this month's incredible nature print in all its glory. The little "unearth your ideas" phrase printed on the front is a cute, on-theme motivator for opening it up and journaling.
On the inside are simple, lined pages.
The back is a mirror image of the illustration on the front.
A6 Notepad - Listed Value About $2.83 USD (£3.95)
I love love love notepads like this. I keep them on my desk and write down little reminders throughout my day, and sometimes I bring them to meetings to take notes on takeaways and CTAs. I find that a good pen is a must for this type of jotting. The whole scenario brilliantly counteracts the parts of me that have frozen into a robot now that my calendar is completely digital.
2 x A4 Riso Art Prints - Retail Value About $12.81 USD (£17.90)
These prints are such nice quality! I'm a sucker for that old school textbook style that I mentioned above, and I've even used wrapping paper prints of similar plants and animals to line the inside of my built-in cupboards. These would look so nice framed and displayed next to each other—the bright colors really give them an original feel. For me personally, the neon pink isn't my home's style, but I know exactly who I'm going to gift these to, and she's going to go nuts.
Brass Paper Scissors - Estimated Value $7.12 (£9.95)
I spotted these scissors on a Papergang Instagram post and just assumed they were something you'd be able to find on Ohh Deer's website, but never in my wildest dreams did I imagine they'd come my way in a monthly box! At first, I saw the tissue paper protecting them in my box and thought, "hmm, that's a weird shape, what could that be?" and then it hit me and my eyes got so wide, and I tore that tissue paper away in a flash. These are so beautiful! And they're nice 'n' sharp. I'm going to keep them with my stationery, away from the everyday office supplies we keep on our counter so that they stay nice and so I can feel snazzy every time I'm making a card or somethin'. So excited.
Bonus: Riso Checklist Card - Estimated Value $1.98 (£2.75)
Similar to the cutout card from the box sleeve, this is a small print you can display in your home to keep your mind on green habits. My favorite is "do without"—an important reminder in an age of excess!
Verdict: This was a rad month for Papergang. I am so feeling the nature theme, and the unabashed eco-friendly message—it's very aligned with how I strive to live! As far as the colors throughout this month's box go, they're not my favorites, but like I said before, they do give a freshness to a style of illustration that's been seen over the years. Overall I'm really satisfied! I received a soft cover notebook, a notepad, a duo of art prints, brass scissors, and a bonus riso card, which added up to about $28 USD. That's higher than most months! For an approximately $19.78 (including shipping to the USA) box, that's a two-thumbs-up good deal.
