The Mr. Collection is a monthly clothing rental subscription for men. Your stylist puts a pack together based on your style profile and you keep it for as long as you like. When you are done wearing the pieces, you send them back in the included pre-paid bag. You have the option of buying any item at a special member discount price just in case you can’t bear to part with it.
The Mr. Collection has several different plans to best fit your needs. They also have The Ms. Collection for women.
This is the review for The Mr. Collection Premium Once a Month plan, which sends 4 items for $69 per month (plus free shipping). Each pack includes 3-4 pieces of quality, designer, casual clothing for your everyday look. When you sign up, you answer questions about your style (size, colors, patterns, clothing type, etc.). An actual stylist puts your pack together so, even though your pieces are a surprise, they should work for you. You can leave feedback for your stylist to help make your next pack even better.
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Mr. Collection January 2019 Review
This month, John's stylist included 2 casual tops and an outfit that could work for both a work day or a date night. Let's see what he got!
The info card includes a handwritten note from Sarah, John's stylist this month, and some information about how the subscription works. There is also an invoice that shows the member price for each item in case he wanted to purchase anything.
Banks Journal Primary Pants in Dirty Black, Size 34 - Retail Price $65, Member Price $52
John calls these "magic pants", and for good reason; they are really slimming on him. I think it's because he's used to wearing straight cut, so this slightly slimmer fit takes off some bulk. The 98% cotton/2% fabric gives these chinos a nice weight and a bit of stretch. The construction is impressive with finished seams and attached front pockets (no bunching). Bonus, they coordinate well with any of the tops that his stylist included this month.
7Diamonds Abbey Road Plaid Long Sleeve Shirt, Size L - Retail Price $109, Member Price $87.20
This is John's favorite item this month. I love that he has become so fond of button-down shirts! This one is 100% cotton and feels light and crisp. The navy and green check is sharp and looks great on John whether he dresses it up or down. The details are on point too, including the contrasting fabric on the inside of the collar and down the button panel, the brand tag on the pocket, and the extra buttons sewn onto the tag. His stylist suggested pairing this with the Banks Journal pants as an outfit for date night.
The Normal Brand Puremeso Raglan Henley in Rust, Size L - Retail Price $58, Member Price $46.40
John has received this henley in green before and it was a hit! This rust-red also looks good on him, though I'm partial to the green. The cotton/poly/spandex material is thick and soft, perfect for layering in the winter. John likes that the neckline isn't too wide when he leaves one button unbuttoned. There is contrasting fabric on the inside piping of the collar and an extra button sewn onto the tag. I totally appreciate the small details from this brand.
Well + Last Hoodie - Retail Price $59, Member Price $47.20
I really like this hoodie for a casual look on John. It's got a cool black and white pattern that makes it look grey from further away. The fabric is thin and soft and the fit is relaxed but not baggy. The contrasting cuffs, metal-tipped drawstring, and slightly different fabric inside of the hood make for a little bit of added interest.
About Returns:
Each pack includes a pre-paid return envelope. When you are done with your pieces, just pop them in here and drop it off at the post office. The Mr. Collection will process your return and you’ll be ready to go for your next pack. (If you are purchasing anything, just leave them out of your return package.)
A note about cleaning: You don’t have to clean the pieces before sending them back. The Mr. Collection has everything cleaned once the pieces are returned. I didn’t notice any smell (including fragranced detergent which is good for those with sensitive skin), stains, or signs of wear. Actually, everything was in pristine condition!
The Verdict: John's pack is a winner this month. The pants are versatile and work with each of the 3 tops for totally different outfits. Since John has been able to try good-quality clothes since starting with The Mr. Collection, he has begun to notice the small details that make a big difference. And, he appreciates not having to go shopping in order to have stylish clothes to wear. This pack had a retail value of $291, and for a cost of $69 with free shipping, I think it is a great deal. Plus, The Mr. Collection customer service is fantastic! The stylists are eager to help and I encourage any subscriber to reach out if you have any questions.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? The Mr. Collection picks clothing for you based on your style preferences so your pack will be different than John's. Sign up and see what they choose for you!
Value Breakdown: Since this is a clothing rental service, the value really comes from being able to change up and try new, styled looks every month. Since there is no way John would spend this amount to buy clothes at this retail value for himself, it’s great for him to be able to wear high-end clothing for a flat rate. There is always the option to buy an item for a discounted price if you love it. Basically here is what he paid to rent each item for the month (based on retail price):
- Banks Journal Pants - $15.41
- The Normal Brand Henley - $13.75
- 7Diamonds Shirt - $25.85
- Well + Last Hoodie - $13.99
