The December 2018 Vinyl Me, Please Subscription Box features the self-titled album from Mavis Staples.

Vinyl Me, Please has recently condensed the presentation a bit - now it all revolves around the LP - and I think it's better. Right on the gatefold, you'll be able to read about the artist while still getting that cocktail recipe.

As always, it's also accompanied by an LP-size piece of artwork.

How beautiful and retro looking is this pressing? So great!

The album itself is just fire from front to back. So good. Liz and I still love all things Motown and this album just rolls right through, front-to-back - plus, everyone loves 'Son of a Preacher Man', right?

Verdict: The album, pressing, and presentation were all top notch this month. This is a great subscription for vinyl collectors - or even someone new to the vinyl world. It's nice to revisit old masterpieces that I haven't listened to in quite a bit, or discover something new that I probably should have already known - you get a little bit of both from month-to-month.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes. You can now start your subscription with a number of albums choices on this page.

Mom and I watching watching celebrities on the red carpet a few years ago:
Me: Mom! There’s Mavis Staples, she worked with Prince!
Mom (surprised that’s how I knew who she is): She’s one of the famous Staples Singers!
Still cracks me up!
