Astral Box January 2019 Review
Welcome to this month's Astral Box! I love this box's high quality and original ideas for how to supplement spiritual living. This month's theme is Muladhara, or the root chakra. Its signature red color and symbol is seen throughout the items in this box, including here on the welcome card. On the back is a list of items found in the box with a little description of how they fit the theme. Note that its values are listed in New Zealand dollars (NZD).
This card offers some introductory info to the root chakra, which is at the base of your spine, and is the chakra of grounding energy. It is said to be the first chakra that must be opened to set the foundation for the others to be built upon.
Peachy Vitamin C Serum – Listed Value Approx. $32 USD ($47 NZD)
But, before we jump into root chakra items, we'll first explore this Vitamin C Serum by the New Zealand brand Peachy. The info card doesn't tell how this is meant to relate to the chakra, but I think maybe it's not—it's just a high-quality product for you to try. While it's summer in NZ, it's a cold, dry winter where I live, so this hydrating serum came at a good time for me. Its consistency is a clear gel and it leaves a nice, dewy feel on my face. It's very rejuvenating!
This card gives a list of ingredients and some info about both Peachy and the specific product they have featured in the Astral Box. Astral Box is so good about including extremely high-quality products for us to try!
Soul Essences Root Chakra Flower Essence – Listed Value Approx. $16 USD ($23 NZD)
This essential oil blend is a mix of several plants (listed below on the back of the included Soul Essences card) and it has a beautiful, indeed floral, scent. It's meant to soothe anxiety, so I put some immediately in my diffuser to let its essence fill my home and seep into my being!
It has a classic dropper top.
This is the info I referenced above. I love the way each ingredient was added with intention and that they're all laid out clearly for us!
Root Chakra Bracelet — Listed Value Approx. $40 USD ($59 NZD)
How lovely is this delicate bracelet? I have it pictured sort of propped on my wrist, but on its loosest adjustment it is a rather dangly fit. I think it would look beautiful stacked with beaded bracelets or a wrap bracelet. The root chakra symbol is delicate and meaningful.
Root Chakra Gemstone — Listed Value Approx. $7 USD ($10 NZD)
This red jade stone is so satisfyingly round and smooth. When I first began to explore stones, I admitted to a friend that I didn't "get it." She suggested I start out by looking through her collection and finding a stone that feels good in my hand. It was such a simple act, but it brought my mind toward the sensations I was experiencing; the present. It was a first step toward meditation. As I rubbed my fingers along the textured engraving of this jade piece, it reminded me of that experience.
Root Chakra Gem Roller — Listed Value Approx. $14 USD ($20 NZD)
I was pleased that this essential oil roller came in a little plastic zipper bag because it was leaking when I pulled it out! These are exactly the type of touches that Astral Box never fails to include, and they make this subscription feel so elevated. The patchouli scent in this roller is delightfully familiar, and while it isn't one I usually wear, I rolled it on with my root chakra in mind and every time I caught a whiff of it throughout the day, it reminded me to focus, if for a moment, on grounding. What a wonderful treat.
Verdict: After taking a few months off from Astral Box, I was delighted to get back into it and be given the high-quality experience they offer. I love the theme and felt it was curated thoughtfully. Based on listed values, the items in this box add up to about $109 USD, which exceeds the $67-$101 USD value that was promised by Astral Box.
