Birchbox The Skincare Multitaskers Kit Review February 2019 Review
Here is the info sheet for the products included, along with the prices of their full-size counterparts.
Sunday Riley Auto Correct Brightening and Depuffing Eye Contour Cream, 0.10 oz – Estimated Value $13 (buy the 0.5 oz version for $65)
This is a pricy eye cream sample, so props to Birchbox for that. I am a big Sunday Riley fan, so I was excited to try this eye cream out. I honestly didn’t really notice any difference in the brightness on my under eyes, and I don’t experience puffiness. I did like how quickly this absorbed, though, and maybe with longer use, I will see more results.
Hero Cosmetics Mighty Patch Invisible+, 6 dots – Estimated Value $2.77 (buy the full-size version with 39 dots for $17.99)
Where were these acne dots when I was a teenager and suffering big time from acne?? Think of all of the acne scars I could have prevented by using one of these bad boys rather than constantly picking my face. These dots absorb the fluid that is in a pimple that has come to a head, and they work magic when you leave them on overnight. These won’t really work on cystic acne or acne under the skin, but once a pimple looks like it needs to be popped resist the urge and throw on one of these dots instead.
Dr. Lipp Original Nipple Balm for Lips, 0.1 fl oz – Estimated Value $3.25 (buy a full-size tube for $16.50)
Way back when I was subscribed to Birchbox (I think that’s over two years ago), I got this sample from Dr. Lipp. I liked it then and I liked it now— a little goes a long way and this is a very thick balm. My lips are more chapped now than they were in the winter, so I am ready for this thick salve to help me out.
Huxley Secret of Sahara Good Night Sleep Mask, 1.06 oz – Estimated Value $11.29 (buy the full-size version for $36)
This absorbed into my skin quickly and a pearl-sized amount actually covered my entire face, so this sample should be able to last me at least a month! After the overnight mask did its magic I woke up to my skin looking super soft and glowy with my redness under control. It also very faintly smelled like cactus, which is something I haven’t smelled since I lived in Southern Arizona. Overall, two thumbs up for this.
M·A·C Cosmetics Strobe Cream - Pinklite, 0.20 oz – Estimated Value $4 (buy the full-size version for $34)
This is a true multitasker- you can use it underneath your foundation for a bit of a hydrating glow, or as a highlighter on the high points of your face for a natural accent of shine. Pinklite is very sheer and adds just a subtle glow that works perfectly for those no makeup or natural makeup days.
Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay Flash Perfection Exfoliating Treatment, 0.45 oz – Estimated Value $5.68 (buy the 3.4 oz version for $42.90)
This exfoliation treatment is part mask, part regular exfoliator. You apply it to clean, damp skin and leave it on for five minutes before massaging away and rinsing. I found the exfoliation to be thorough without being too aggressive, and the kaolin clay and grape seed oil helped my skin to look more clear and bright after using.
Marcelle New∙Age® Precision 8-in-1 Power Serum, 0.23 oz – Estimated Value $8.51 (buy the full-size version for $37)
I thought this serum was lightweight and it absorbed into my skin quickly, and it is made with a multi-peptide anti-aging complex to lift, firm, strengthen, and smooth (among other things). To be honest, I wasn’t impressed with the ingredients list (alcohol was among them), so this isn’t a serum I would want to reach for again.
NuFACE Prep-N-Glow™ Cloth, 2 cloths – Estimated Value $2 (buy a box of 20 cloths for $20)
This is a dual-sided facial wipe that has a soft cotton side to cleanse your skin and a side textured with dots for a light exfoliation. This has fragrance pretty high up on the ingredients list, which I am not a fan of – especially since its listed before the good ingredients like hyaluronic acid, licorice root extract, and grape seed extract. Overall I liked this, but I didn’t like it enough to want to purchase the full-size version.
Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré, 0.17 oz – Estimated Value $1.88 (buy a full-size tube for $28)
This is a fancy French moisturizer that comes sealed with foil, and you actually need the pointy end of this cap to open it. This isn’t a very big sample, but I want to try it out as a makeup remover the next time I use it. I liked it as a light moisturizer and I feel like it would make taking eye makeup off more comfortable.
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil, 1.4 oz – Estimated Value $7.59 (buy the 5.9 oz version for $32)
I love Kiehl’s! This cleansing oil completely removed a full face of makeup with ease, and I love that it has Squalane. Squalane is a derived from olives and it is a skin-softening ingredient packed with antioxidants.
Verdict: I thought this was an awesome kit from Birchbox considering the $19 price point- there are some great brands in this kit like Sunday Riley, Huxley, and Kiehls! I thought a great selection of products was included too, from a sleeping mask to acne dots and serums and exfoliators. Value-wise, Birchbox promised a $49 value and by my math, this kit is worth $60.27!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, this box is still available!
