Bullymake Box is a monthly subscription box for power chewers. You all have heard about (and seen) some of Nyx’s exploits with plush toys from dog subscription boxes so when I heard about this one, I had to sign up immediately. Nyx is definitely a power chewer! You pick your dog’s weight in 10-pound increments so this is a box for an 80-pound dog (Nyx weighs about 84 right now).
My Subscription Addiction paid for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)
About Bullymake Box
The Subscription Box: Bullymake Box
The Cost: $39 a month (save with 3, 6, and 12-month subscriptions)
The Products: Toys and treats specifically tailored for heavy chewing dogs (no plushes). You can also choose a “toys only” box. Because of Nyx’s dietary issues, I went with the “toys only” box. You can also enter specific allergy information in a box on the checkout screen.
Ships to: USA (free!)
Good to know: if you want a toys-only box, you must select that during sign-up. Otherwise, you will get the default box, which does include some treats.
Bullymake Box January 2019 Review
There was a hardware-type theme this month:
Not all boxes are the same due to the fact that you can choose your dog’s size in 10-pound increments, choose a toys-only box, etc., but there is usually an information card highlighting an item or two from the box.
Bullymake Hammer – Listed Value $18
This is one of the featured toys for the month. I don’t know if it is flavored or not, but Nyx thinks it’s great (see some photos of her with it below). Interestingly, she is actually chewing on both ends (usually she just picks one end and tries to destroy these toys), which means it is lasting longer than usual.
Bullymake Wirenut – Listed Value $18
This is the second featured toy for the month. You’ll pretty much always get one nylon chew and one KONG-style rubber toy. These always have the safety feature of having a second hole in the opposite end to avoid suction problems. If your dog can have treats, these are great for hiding treats. Since Nyx really can’t have treats, I put a little peanut butter just inside where it’s difficult for her to reach and let her enjoy the toy that way.
Bullymake Rope Ball with Tug Handle
This is Bullymake-branded but does not appear in the Bullymake shop, so I don’t really have any idea how to value it. You don’t usually get rope toys in this subscription UNLESS you have the toys-only version like we do. Nyx loves rope toys. Of course, she wants to chew on the handle part of this instead of the ball, because that’s just how she is. But as long as she is having fun, I don’t really care how she chooses to play with it.
Red X-Shaped Nylon Stick
This is one of those months where we get a second nylon toy and I’m not at all sad since these are Nyx’s favorite things ever. She can’t decide which end of this one she wants to destroy so she is chewing on both of them and having a ball. This looks like it will last a while, too. (This is non-branded and I didn’t see it in the Bullymake shop, either.)
Here are a few shots of Nyx with the hammer toy. These nylon chews are the highlight of her month.
Verdict: I couldn’t calculate a total value for the January 2019 Bullymake Box because none of the items were available in their shop (some may appear later, especially this month’s featured toys) and there’s really nowhere else to get them since they were all Bullymake branded or non-branded. But, Nyx liked everything and everything was durable and I know that durable toys for large, heavy chewers are expensive, so I feel like this box is a good deal for us. (Of course, every dog’s chew style is different.)
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first shipment would be February’s. You can sometimes buy some of the exclusive toys at the Bullymake Shop if something catches your eye (this month’s toys may take a few weeks to get put into the shop). Also, please note there are some box variations here so you may not always receive the same box as Nyx gets, even if you choose the same profile values when you sign up.
Value Breakdown: At $39 for the box, you are paying approximately $9.75 per item.
