Geek Gear World of Wizardry January 2019 Review
As soon as I opened my box, I was presented with this letter from Geek Gear apologizing and announcing that future boxes will be changing to reflect a more personalized, handcrafted look.
I also received a pamphlet with descriptions and values of each item as well as a hint to next month’s box!
Wizardry Necklace – Listed Retail Value $12.79 (£9.99)
This necklace is so amazing! It is really heavy and is so pretty. It looks just like a chocolate frog except he stays in place. The chain is pretty long and will dress well with lots of things. My city will sometimes host Harry Potter Live Symphony where there is a live symphony playing the music to movies and everyone dresses up. This is a perfect accessory for the next show!
Owl Plush – Listed Retail Value $10.23 (£7.99)
When I initially looked at the pamphlet then the box, I thought for sure the owl was missing. But it wasn’t, it was tucked into this box. It is a tiny owl, but really life-like. She is a soft white color with dark grey striped wings and a grey beak. Her feet are molded together to allow her to stand without falling. While she is cute and I love her, I would not consider her a plush. She’s more of a decoration and isn’t really cuddly the way a plush would be.
Love Potion Tea – Listed Retail Value $6.39 (4.99)
This is another one of those moments where I wish I could somehow allow you to smell what I smell. As soon as I opened this bag, I was enveloped in such a sweet scent; I could just smell this all day! It is also a beautiful blend and so colorful. This tea is made of hibiscus, apple, rosehip, citrus, and raspberry. I haven’t yet brewed this tea, I don’t have a tea stepper, but I am okay keeping it loose and smelling it from time to time. I definitely am a bit obsessed; that is the purpose of the love potion, isn’t it?
Wizardry Cushion Cover – Listed Retail Value $15.35 (£11.99)
This is a really cool looking cushion cover. It has so many HP symbols: the lightning strike, Harry’s glasses, the keys from the first movie, a snake, a lion and so much more! It is blue and tan and feels sort of like canvas. Unfortunately, I do not have a pillow to fit it but will be getting one soon because I really like this cushion cover!
Deathly Hallows Print – Listed Retail Value $6.39 (£4.99)
This Deathly Hallows print is so amazing, I just love it everything about it: the font, the design, everything!
Festive Owl Pin – Listed Retail Value $6.39 (£4.99)
In the pamphlet we received, this was to be included in the November subscription but had a late arrival, so they included it in this month’s sub. It is a cute snowy owl with a scarf and hat. The pin is secured with two pins to ensure it doesn’t turn and stays in place. While I think it is cute, I don’t really get Harry Potter out of it, though I understand this is probably Hedwig. Still, …not very Harry Potter and probably my least favorite item in my box.
Wizardry T-Shirt – Listed Retail Value $15.39 (£11.99)
As soon as I opened my box, I was excited to see a shirt, but as soon as I opened it up, I realized how incredibly tiny it was! When I looked at the tag and saw that it is a 3/4T, I couldn’t help but admit I was a bit saddened. It’s a really cute shirt, featuring Hogwarts and Quidditch goals. I will be saving this for my infant daughter, Maleah, because she is destined to be a Gryffindor one day.
Verdict: I was psyched when I received this package in the mail, it was my first Harry Potter-themed box. I am such a big fan of any and all things HP and could not wait to open this up. I was pretty pleased with it even though I will never get a chance to wear the shirt. My favorite item is probably the necklace, it is just so awesome! I am really looking forward to next month’s box, especially after receiving the letter that things would start to change and improve!
