Korean Snacks Box February 2019 Review

Korean Snacks Box Review February 2019 - INFO SHEET

This month’s snack box contained individually packaged snacks that were curated with Valentine’s Day in mind. In addition to interesting cultural tidbits, the info sheet for this month’s box also gave a very brief overview of the snacks included. Nutritional information isn’t provided, so tread with caution if you have food sensitivities. Because I don’t, I dove right in.

Kancho

These delicious little cookies have a sweet chocolate coating on the inside. On the outside, you can see interesting little images printed on each one. I was really charmed by the thoughtful packaging design, and how it creates such a shareable experience. In terms of flavor, they’re very close (if not identical) to these Japanese koala cookies that have grown in popularity over the past few years. Delicious!

Korean Snacks Box Review February 2019 - SUBAKBA WATERMELON FULL Korean Snacks Box Review February 2019 - SUBAKBA WATERMELON CLOSE

Subakba Jelly

These soft watermelon gummies are inspired by a popular Korean ice cream and are reimagined for wintertime. The sugary exterior balanced the tartness of the watermelon flavor, and the chew was satisfying. I’m not normally a fan of watermelon-flavored things, but these were pretty tasty.

Korean Snacks Box Review February 2019 - OH YES CAKE FULLKorean Snacks Box Review February 2019 - OH YES CAKE CLOSE

Oh Yes Chocolate Cake

Korea makes the best chocolate snack cakes, and I will uphold this opinion until I am blue in the face. This chocolate-coated snack cake has a stripe of chocolate through the center, along with a chocolate drizzle on top. All of that chocolate is complemented by white sponge cake, and as a whole, it makes for a mildly sweet treat. Its name is certainly earned.

Crown Sando Strawberry Cookies

If you’re a fan of strawberry Pocky, then you’re an excellent candidate for these cookies. Each adorable pink pack offers two biscuits with a mix of strawberries and cream cheese in the center. The strawberry flavor was surprisingly natural. These were so good!

Korean Snacks Box Review February 2019 - GHANA BAR FULLKorean Snacks Box Review February 2019 - GHANA BAR CLOSE

Ghana Chocobar Mini

I was a huge fan of the Ghana chocolate bar from the December box, so it was a nice treat to see this Lotte offering again so soon. This info sheet didn’t describe these as having any peanut butter in them, but the center definitely had a peanut butter flavor with a nougat consistency. If you have a nut sensitivity and received this month’s box, I’d avoid these. However, if you don’t, I recommend giving them a try.

Korean Snacks Box Review February 2019 - LOLLIPOPS FULL Korean Snacks Box Review February 2019 - LOLLIPOPS CLOSE

Lollipop Ice

More candy modeled after popular ice cream! The pink-packaged lollipop with the blue shark on it is another rendition of the Jaws Ba gummy candy from the December box. The other flavors I could identify are cola and watermelon, while the last pink-and-white striped one remains a mystery. I appreciate the design of the packaging, and how it forms a little jacket around the stick so the stick doesn’t get all soggy and gross as it’s being enjoyed.

Korean Snacks Box Review February 2019 - SILK BAG FRONT Korean Snacks Box Review February 2019 - SILK BAG CINCHED

Bokjumeoni

Lastly, here’s the traditional Korean silk bag in a Valentine’s Day pink. In previous months, this bag was sometimes filled with very small candies, but given the interesting assortment this month, the little candies weren’t needed.

Verdict: Korean Snacks Box was once again a great treat, made even lovelier with the Valentine’s Day theme. My favorite was a tie between the Kancho cookies and the Oh Yes chocolate cakes. Next month’s box will have a White Day theme, based on the tradition of men returning the favor for gifts received on Valentine’s Day. I’m already looking forward to it.

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? No, you will get the March box.

Value Breakdown: This box cost me $14.95 + free shipping, which means that each of the 6 of items in the box (not including the silk bag, and counting the multiples as 1 item) has an average cost of $2.49 A fine deal, if I do say so!

You can buy individual boxes on their website, rather than start a subscription. I purchased the Valentines Day box. It is on it’s way. And the white themed box is available now along with many others.
