Loot Fright "Love Sucks" February 2019 Review
The box comes with a card detailing the items inside and also highlights the theme which is Love Sucks. I am pretty impressed with this box's ability to tie the horror genre into seasonal holidays and I love their note, specifically their line about falling "dead over heels."
I also really love the fantastic box art. The detailed white images on the glossy black box are awesome. My 4-year-old daughter actually loved this design (we recently had a discussion on the human heart) so much that she has turned this box into an art project! Haha.
Exclusive Sunny Cult Family Pin Set
This is one show I am not familiar with since it is from Crypt TV, which airs mostly on Facebook and YouTube. This set of two pins is well made and is designed by Zombie Dollars who does some really cool horror-inspired artwork. This pin set also unlocks exclusive content from Crypt TV.
Exclusive Universal Studios Monsters Valentines
What February box would be complete without a set of Valentine's from your favorite monsters? In addition to the beautiful artwork, these cards are also very punny. I can't decide if I like "I love you to the lagoon and back" or "You're the one fur me" best. This set of 6 cards comes with a nice red envelope and they are blank inside. My favorite feature though has to be that the back of each card gives a brief little tidbit about each monster. These are a unique and fun item that perfectly combines the horror genre with Valentine's Day to fit our Love Sucks theme.
Exclusive Bride of Chucky Blanket
This blanket came shrink-wrapped in order to fit inside our box. The blanket is thin, made from soft polyester material and features everyone's favorite killer-doll. It not huge, measuring about 5 ft by 3.5 ft. so it might work better as a tapestry or fun Halloween decor! I like the nice 80's style rainbow with the fun phrasing. This blanket is the perfect blend of creepy and romantic.
Here's a closer look at the blanket material and tag which says this blanket is hand wash only.
Exclusive La Llorona Ornamental Bookmark
This second item is from the Loot Fright Legends & Lore series and is based on La Llorona, the Weeping Woman, in Mexican folklore. It is said that those who hear her cries are doomed to suffer misfortune or even death. I love that they have chosen to incorporate legends into this box, which I find are often the spookiest stories!
This bookmark is so well made and I love the packaging that it comes in. The detail of this design is also pretty incredible! The hollowed out eyes give it a haunting feel for sure.
Exclusive Dracula T-Shirt
This shirt design is so cool! I love the shading on the face which gives it an almost holographic feel like Dracula is really coming straight out of this shirt. It is designed by Tracie Ching who is able to achieve amazing results with limited colors. Here the black with the contrasting bright white and red give it a real dynamic quality and clearly it goes right along with our theme. There are also some images tangled within the web, which add even more interest to this intricate design. The shirt itself is soft and comfortable, but definitely on the smaller side, FYI!
The Verdict: I am really impressed with the quality of the items we received in our Loot Fright box! They were all fun ways to tie the horror genre to Valentine's day and I loved that they included a bit of folklore in that bookmark design. Overall, I thought the items in this box were a good mix of different horror franchises and the fact that there were so many exclusive items from such talented artists made it feel extra special. If you are a horror fan, then this box is worth checking out!
