January 2019 No Make No Life Box Review
The booklet list gives you detailed information on each item, as well as instructions on how to use certain products. It also has other helpful info, and this month included a little write up on the difference between K- Beauty, and J- Beauty which I found interesting! This sub has both types.
Missha 3D Mascara - Retail Value $8.00
I liked this mascara very much. I have sensitive eyes, so not every brand really works for me. This was a smooth formula that didn't clump or have chunks that flaked off as the day wore on. The wand was a little longer than I am used to, though I quickly adjusted. The brush itself was thickly bristled and helped the formula coat each of my lashes evenly. They looked longer and plumper. It was a little bit of work to remove this mascara, but I think it was worth it to have a formula that stays put all day.
Melliesh Denkyu Lip Tint in Healthy Red
I love lip tints but sometimes they leave your lips super dry or creep into your lip lines (yuck!). This one was a really moisturizing formula that had none of those nasty normal lip tint faults. The red was super sheer and perfect for my super minimal makeup routine. My only complaint was with the packaging. While it is cute and super festive, the doe-foot never really gets much product, making multiple dips necessary. I also worry that as the bulb begins to empty, I will be unable to access the remaining formula.
Soy Milk Extract Facial Cleansing Foam
I am always pleased to get a new cleanser in any sub, especially now since I double cleanse. Most of my favorites tend to be Japanese or Korean. This Japanese, soy-based formula is very gentle but does a fantastic job of removing my makeup without stripping my skin bare of its natural defenses. Iy was creamy and then foamy when mixed with water and had a light and pleasant scent.
Watering Cosmetic Sponges
I didn't quite understand this addition to the box, as to me, these are the normal sponges you find at any major cosmetic store to use as testers for foundation or moisturizers. These do grow more when wet. As suggested in the booklet, I added water then used the wet sponge to apply my foundation. I generally apply with my fingertips, so the true usefulness of these might have been lost on me.
Etude House My Beauty Tool Etti Shower Ball - Retail Value $5.60
This kitty loofa is SO cute! Her ears are hearts! Other than the adorable feline, you have a very standard and useful pink loofa, perfect for pairing with your favorite body washes and soaps for an extra adorable bath or shower.
Tony Moly Kiss Kiss Lovely Lip Patch - Retail Value $4.50
I haven't had a ton of luck with lip masks. They either don't really do anything at all, taste bad, or irritate my lips. This one fell under the "didn't really do anything" category, but it was still fun to wear, though it kept sliding down my face. Anyone have any recs for a lip mask that is amazing?
Flower Bouquet Face and Body Soap
This little soap smelled like a fresh spring bouquet. It was gentle on my skin and seems like it will last quite a while, despite its smaller size. The super feminine scent will also keep my husband from using it, leaving more for me! Small marriage victories!
Fruit Slice Sheet Mask Pack - Estimated Retail Value $5.00 (Buy 10 pouches here for $50.00)
I think I would have really loved this if it had been one single mask. Instead, they are a set of multiple little pineapple rings that you can place all over your face, wherever you wish. While this is adorable and totally Instagram worthy, I feel like the formula would have been more effective as a single sheet. The pineapple scent was strong and smelled just like the fruit and the serum itself was calming and brightening.
Verdict: No Make No Life Box is always filled with some of the most unique products. Sometimes these are complete misses for me, but I enjoy the exploration of products I would never normally find in my local stores. I absolutely loved the face wash, lip tint, and mascara. The wedges were a total miss for me, and I didn't love the lip patch. Regardless, this is still one of my favorite boxes because you never know what to expect and there are always winners for me!
