Papergang is a monthly stationery subscription box from quirky UK design team, Ohh Deer. Each month they partner with a different artist and have a theme to bring you paper goods and desk accessories. Each month's packaging is uhhh-mazing and acts as the perfect preview to the theme of the box. It's designed by a featured artist each month, and sometimes said featured artist is on the Ohh Deer team, as is the case this month. This month's collection of playful, colorful geometric shapes—basically confetti for the eyes—and cute characters was created by Ohh Deer's lead designer, Jade Walsh.

The flip side of the box always features a cut-out craft, and this month is simply a set of bookmarks. Mine got a little dirty in transit, but I love how the one is super encouraging and the other is just plain ol' adorbs.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Papergang February 2019 Review

Papergang includes a fun little info booklet each month that matches the box and theme of the contents! Shall we have a look-see?

Under the front cover is a list with the contents of this month's box (Box #36). On the opposite page is a super-brief interview with designer Jade Walsh!

Here, Papergang promotes some cards they carry on the Ohh Deer site—specifically ones that go with the happy theme of the February box. They also offer a peek at some posts you might find on their blog!

The next page shows a bunch of past boxes all together—my, how they make my heart flutter! And then, the usual head's up about their awesome referral program. Find out more info about their referral program at papergang.ohhdeer.com/faq.

On the back is a reminder about Mother's Day! It took a friend pointing this out to me last year, but this is the UK Mother's Day, which is on a different date than the one celebrated in the US. The UK's is on March 31; the US celebrates on May 12 this year!

A5 Perfect Lined Notebook - Listed Value About $11.91 USD (£8.95)

If you're new to Papergang, you may like to know that one of the "big ticket" items included most months is a notebook. But, like, a really nice, really fun notebook that, if you're anything like me, you'll hoard for a few months until the perfect use presents itself before you write in it. I just can't risk ruining a notebook by writing in the first few pages then letting it sit largely unused for eternity! This one is mint on the top and purple on the bottom, with that same winky cutie that was on one of the bookmarks.

The inside cover has the festive geometric print you saw on the box, and its pages are lined on the front 'n' blank on the back. To me, this symbolizes an invitation to pop some illustrations in here, or maybe some Venn diagrams (a favorite notebook contribution of mine), or perhaps put some stickers or photos in with washi tape (stick around long enough and you're likely to receive some washi tape in a Papergang box!). You could also use this as a bullet journal if you feel so called.

And, here's the back. Simple. Nicely bound. A fine piece of paper is good to own.

Triangle Sticky Notes - Listed Value About $4.66 USD (£3.50)

And then there are these little dudes! If you look closely, you can kind of see from the photo where the sticky part starts on the top of the triangle. I held these stickies about an inch from my face to try to see if I could detect a faint smile in that expression. Either way, it's great—if he's ever-so-slightly happy, then yay that's wonderful! If he's really just pretty "meh," then I will bring this stack to work and undoubtedly find plenty of uses for writing less-than-enthusiastic reminders and notes to match his mood. Haha!

Sticker Pack - Retail Value About $2.82 USD (£3.95)

Awwww yesssss! I love stickers! Always have, always will. They bring out my inner child. These particular four sheets of goodness are amazing for those of you who still use paper planners (I wish I was still one of those people...maybe I will be again someday). They could be used to mark a special to-do or day. I'll probably use them mostly on snail mail, but in the meantime, I made my daughter's bib a little funky. She seemed into it.

3 x Happy Highlighters - Estimated Value $6.59 (£4.95)

Writing utensils may be my favorite thing to receive in Papergang boxes. (Though it's hard to pick a favorite.) At first, I thought these were just angled-tip markers, which was fiiiine by me—I mean, they're super fun. But it turns out they're actually highlighters, which is even cooler!

I would say the most highlighter-y of them all is the green on, as the others are a little dark. I don't have much to highlight these days anyway, so I'll probably just use them as markers until an occasion arises.

Bonus: Riso Calendar - Estimated Value $3.66 (£2.75)

After a few months' break, Papergang is back to including a riso calendar. I collected these for a bit and kept the relevant one on my fridge, more for something artful to have on there than for date reference. For the first time, there's no specific month indicated on there, so you can fill it in with whatever month is useful to you. I'm into that!

Finally, just a little behind-the-scenes shot for ya. My girl, like all babies I suppose, is a crinkly-things connoisseur, so she totally dug the tissue paper that wrapped the items in my Papergang box while I snapped photos for this review. 🙂

Verdict: Papergang, I love you! This month's theme was a beacon of bliss in the midst of such a long-feeling winter. The colors and shapes are bright and kinda sorta make me want to dance! I received a soft cover notebook, sticky notes, a sticker pack (4 sheets included), 3 highlighters, and a bonus riso calendar, which added up to about $29.64 USD. Like last month, that's higher than most months! For an approximately $21.10 (box + shipping to the USA) box, that's a deal I'm down with.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you'll receive the March box! Check this helpful ship date guide to see the order-by date to receive the next few months' boxes.

Coupon - Buy a 3-month subscription and save 50% off your first box, no code required, just link here! You can also get a free box with a 6-month subscription or 2 free boxes with a 12-month subscription!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $14.51 + $6.59 shipping, which means that each of the 5 items in the box (counting the bonus card) has an average cost of $4.22.

What a cutie-pie!

But PLEASE don’t put her Bumbo seat so close to the edge of the table (or on any elevated surface) – babies can and will do unexpected things, and the last thing that you want is for her to kick with a lot of energy of lean over to pick up something and take a 3-foot tumble while attached to a very heavy object.

It’s been 32 years, but I still remember the day our oldest managed to wiggle her 4-month-old self off of our bed when both of us thought the other one was watching her. It only takes a split second, and hearing that “thump” is the scariest thing ever! 😭

(Thankfully, she was none the worse for wear, but having heard the story numerous times, she still gives us grief about it! 😊)

Your baby girl is so cute!

But PLEASE do not put your Bumbo so close to the table’s edge – one strong kick from her, or her leaning over to pick something up could lead to her taking a very long tumble:

Thank you!! Agreed–I may not need any of these items, but I love them so much!

Those highlighters have an interesting end, are they like the Frixxion pens (erasable with heat?) and your baby is so adorable, we had the same colored Bumbo too!

I’m unfamiliar with Frixion pens, but sounds like I need to get my hands on some. I’m pretty sure they’re just normal highlighters. 🙂 And thank you!

Oh man. I am not really a baby person, but that baby is CUTE.

So is the box, but mostly the baby.

This box is hit or miss with me and I was pretty satisfied with this one. The box for March looks like it will be great though (theme spoiler: butterflies!)

I want to love this sub so bad. I’m a paper person, but this box is just too cutesie for me I guess. I got this one as my last in a three month sub and honestly was glad it was over. Luckily your baby is happier than those sticky notes. (She’s adorable). I wasn’t sure about that face either, like come on, a smiley would be nice, lol. Anyway after canceling, I got March’s sneak peak and I signed up again because I LOVE the look of that one. Month to month this time though 😂
