Winter 2018 Supernatural Box Review
As soon as I opened my box, I was presented with a ton of Supernatural gear and this card which lists all the items in the box.
Art Print
The first item in the box is this great art print featuring Sam, Dean, Castiel and Crowley in front of a church with falling stars (asteroids?) all around. Ah, I am in LOVE! I could look at this all day long. However, my daughter (Team Dean) has called dibs on this so I guess I won’t be hanging this in my bedroom.
Melamine Plate Set
The next item I got in the winter box was this pair of plates.
The first plate has a design I see a lot in this box which I find pretty busy. It says “Saving People, Hunting Things, The Family Business.” It has angel wings and halo, fire, devil’s tails, an outline of Sam and Dean, the anti-possession symbol, Dean’s 1967 Impala and an angel blade and demon-killing knife crossed over each other. I mean, it pretty much is the whole series in one picture. Either way, it’s a cool plate.
Now I like this plate so much more, from the colors to the design. I love the blue against the black. It says “Dean Says ‘Eat More Pie, Join the Hunt.’” Both the plates are the perfect size for a perfect piece of pie.
Knit Beanie
I really liked this beanie! It is black, accented with blue and grey and features the anti-possession symbol all around. The blue pom on the top is perfect! Wearing this, I know demons cannot possess me! Try again!
Castiel’s Angel Wing Silicone Mold
Alright, all cards on the table this is one of my least favorite item which is a total and complete bummer because Castiel is my favorite character! It is a blue silicone mold of angel wings and a tie (?) looking shape in the middle. I guess it would make sense if it were a tie considering Cass’s extremely limited wardrobe. But the mold is too big for ice and I don’t really make Jell-O. I guess I could use this for cookies – if I ever make cookies. Either way, it was a miss for me and, like I said, total bummer.
Sam Vinyl Figure
Whoa, talk about a miss! This is my first Supernatural Box but I have seen previous ones that featured other vinyl collectibles like Dean and even then, I thought he looked nothing like Dean. Mine is no different. The only way to know this is Sam is by the hair. That’s it. I do wonder why these lack so much character and significant details. Maybe they should include more about the design or the artist to get a better comprehension about the design. Or lack thereof.
Ceramic Mug
The next item I received in this season’s box was this black and blue ceramic mug. The design matches the white plate but the colors match the other one. It is neither dishwasher or microwave safe.
Metal Pie Charm
I liked this item! It is a tiny charm, with a piece of pie on a plate and a fork next to the pie (Ah, Dean and his love of pies). It has a clasp to add to any charm bracelet and that is where I have a bit of negativity to share: what if I didn’t have a charm bracelet? I mean, a lot of people don’t. I do wish that a charm bracelet was included if they are going to start sending out charms, which would make charms something to look forward to in every box. Charm bracelet or not, it’s a cool inclusion for me but I am not sure if every subscriber would feel the same way.
Throw Blanket
We released a spoiler a few months ago so I was really hoping to get this blanket. It fits the theme of the box, black and blue and features the devil’s trap symbol. It is a really cool blanket and is pretty cozy, though it isn’t for very tall people. The image above is being held by my 8-year old daughter who is a whole 3 feet 9. We will be cuddled up together watching Sam and Dean blast monsters with this.
Pig 'N A Poke Cutting Board
The final item I received is this cutting board of a cute little pig advertising the Pig 'N A Poke. This is the Groundhog Day-like episode that Same keeps reliving Dean’s Death. Dean orders the pig n a poke with a side of bacon and tries to change the dish to offset what the day should bring. Probably one of my favorite episodes, so I was excited to get this.
Verdict: This was my first Supernatural Box and I was pretty stoked when the mailman brought it to my door (too big to fit in the mailbox), and yes, I just happened to have it on Supernatural at the time (currently on season 7). As soon as I was able to, I opened it up to see what was inside. I am pretty pleased with the items, except for the vinyl figure. Though I do not know what to do with the silicone wings and tie, I don’t mind it, but hope I get a better Cass item in future boxes.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? If you sign up now, you should get the Spring 2019 box.
Value Breakdown: This box costs $49.99 + 7.00 shipping; a total of $56.99, which means that each of the 8 items in the box has an average cost of $7.12.
