Unicorn Dream Box January 2019 Review
This month’s box was just exploding with lots of unicorn goodies. I just so happened to be hosting a slumber party with three 8-year-old girls and I can STILL hear their excitement as I write this review a couple of days later.
We received a card that introduced the box’s theme to us: Back to School. It is cute and has a list of magical chores. My daughter immediately put her thumb and pinky in a phone symbol up to her ear and pretend-called her BFF who was at the house while they talked about sparkly unicorns. This chore list is complete!
Baby Rainbow Unicorn Backpack – Estimated Retail Value $4.99
This little backpack is super cute and perfect for Maleah, my baby, for when she gets older and wants to start carrying toys. It is small, about 13 inches. She has a rainbow mane and a soft nose and horn. The inside pocket doesn’t offer a whole lot of room but is good for a favorite toy, a mini coloring book, and a few crayons.
Pink Headband with Blue Unicorns – Estimated Retail Value $1.99
The next item we got in our Unicorn Dream Box was a pink headband with blue unicorns. At first, I was not crazy about it. It isn’t made of a material I would normally grab for my girls, it is a little rough and reminded me of a dish towel. But when Bella put it on, it looked pretty cute on her. She likes it and it looks good with her pixie.
Unicorn Squishy – Estimated Retail Value $1.99
This little squishy is so sweet! She has purple hair, a golden horn, pink hooves, and starry eyes. When you squeeze her, she immediately goes back to her regular shape. Both my girls liked playing with her.
Unicorn Place Card Holder – Estimated Retail Value $.60
The next item we received was this unicorn place card holder. We only received one, so I was pretty bummed considering it is a smaller, cheap item. Either way, it is cute. I am not sure what I will use it as; maybe in the nursery with a picture of Maleah and her brother and sister.
Mythical Unicorn Erasers – Buy 2 packs of 4 here for $8.94
This next item made the girls go nuts! They love unicorns, they love tiny toys, they love anything they can do and undo and recreate. The pack was 4 little unicorns whose heads, horn and mane, body and tail and hooves were removable. We took apart the pieces and they made all kinds of mix and matched unicorns. I can honestly say, though, almost $9 seems high (even though its for two packs). But I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t a good item for a birthday party goodie bag.
Unicorn Stationery Set – Estimated Retail Value $5.99
This was a cute set that came with a rainbow notebook, rainbow eraser, rainbow mechanical pencil and some unicorn stickers that all came in a big pouch.
Rainbow Glitter Pen – Estimated Retail Value $3.00
This pen was my personal favorite because it is blue ink! While I subscribe to a lot of stationery and pen boxes, a blue pen is a rarity – like a unicorn! This pen is super fun, the barrel is a rainbow and the inside is filled with glitter. It is a ballpoint pen and sort of thick, so while it may have an adjustment period, it is an item I have been using since opening this box.
Verdict: Unicorn Dream Box is just so much fun to open with my girls and since I opened it during a slumber party, there is no denying it is a hit with little girls. But the value is something I just cannot get behind. When searching for these items, they are on the lower end and come in bulk, so they are even cheaper. This box has a great, fun concept, but I really feel the items need to be of better value or it should be a cheaper box.
