Yogi Surprise February 2019 Review
Here is the info sheet for this month’s box. This month’s theme is “Anahata,” which is your heart chakra- perfect for the month of love.
Rose Quartz Gua Sha – Estimated Value $18 (based on a similar Gua Sha found here)
Gua Shas are the next big skincare tool, and I have been wanting to try one since I first saw it on Instagram. This solid rose quartz one is beautiful, and it is designed to help your skin absorb oils and serums better while also easing facial muscle tension and reducing the appearance of fine lines. I carry a lot of tension in my face, so anything that helps to reduce that is an automatic winner in my book. I also liked that a diagram of the directions you’re supposed to rub was included for optimal lymphatic drainage. Using this with one of my facial oils is a great self-care ritual, and I am excited to incorporate this into my weekly routine.
Seoul Scrub Himalayan Salt Body Scrub in Pink Grapefruit Vanilla, 5 oz - Retail Value $18
Himalayan salt is rich with 84 trace minerals, which is great when you’re me and you have been spending your past few Saturday nights dancing until the wee hours of the morning. Along with mineral-rich Himalayan salt, this is also made with sugar, cold pressed avocado and apricot kernel oil, pink grapefruit essential oil, vanilla, and vitamin E. The scent is subtle citrus, and this dry scrub really leaves my skin feeling so smooth after using.
Yoga Strap, 6 feet
Yoga straps are great for not only carrying your yoga mat but also for going deeper into stretches and poses! This strap is in the signature Yogi Surprise purple, and since it is six feet long there is plenty of length for whatever yoga pose you're trying to go deeper into.
The Brothers Apothecary SensualiTea, 1 tea bag – Buy three tea bags for $15
This tea is made with lemon balm, peppermint, rose petals, rose hips, and CBD Hemp, to name a few ingredients. This tea is completely legal thanks to the CBD being derived from organic hemp, but I have to say I was disappointed in the flavor. I didn’t pick up any notes of peppermint, rose, or lavender- it was just an herby blend with back notes of ginger. Each tea bag contains 62.70 mg of CBD, but I didn’t like the flavor of this tea enough to want to drink the entire cup. The flavor may not be of a concern if you’re using this tea as a “love potion,” but this single gal is only drinking tea for the flavor at the moment.
The Brothers Apothecary Love Brew CBD Essential Oil Roller, 0.33 oz – Retail Value $25
This essential oil roller is made with organic hemp CBD isolate, sandalwood, cinnamon, vanilla, Ylang Ylang, jasmine, sweet almond oil, and jojoba oil. Each bottle has 100 mg of CBD and considering some of the homeopathic claims of Ylang Ylang I don’t actually know where this is intended to be rolled. When I rolled it on my wrist, however, I thought the scent was predominately spicy thanks to the cinnamon with back notes of sandalwood.
Good Day Chocolate Vitamin D3 Supplements, 1 box of 8 – Buy a pack of 12 boxes for $35.99
I already take a daily vitamin D3 supplement thanks to the recommendation of my doctor, so I was excited to try out this chocolate version- it tastes like a big M&M! These are definitely delicious, but wow are they pricy. One serving is 4 candies, which means the full-size package is only a 24 day supply. Considering my sublingual D3 is $13 for a 90 day supply, I don’t see myself buying these in the future. Bummer, because they were tasty.
The Verdict: Yogi Surprise is one of my favorite subscription boxes to receive every month, and I thought this month's box was great! I do think that for a box so focused on love, this would have been better received if it arrived before Valentine's Day- but since the theme is our heart chakra, it is perfectly on time. I appreciated getting high-quality full-size items in the CBD roller and the body scrub, and I am super excited about my new Gua Sha. Value-wise, the info card says this box has a total value of $86.50, which is above the promised monthly value of $85. I like that this month we received fewer items that were of a higher quality compared to last month, too.
