All He Loves Box March 2019 "Drink-ware" Review
We received this card which told us the theme for the month and listed the items and their retail value along with a brief description of them. This month's theme is Drink-ware and is intended to make drinking an experience!
Greens Steel Beast Tumbler 20 oz. in Matte Black - Retail Value $21
The first item in our box is this great stainless steel tumbler. My husband and I love using insulated stainless steel for our water and drinks and we have several other products, but we do not have anything like this tumbler! First, the matte black color is great and perfect for my husband's style, and second, it came with quite a few extras that other companies don't usually include and a plastic lid for it.
They provided a wider straight straw for drinks like smoothies as well as a regular width straw with a bend in it for other drinks, both of which are stainless steel and reusable once you clean them with the included brush! The lid is made of heavy duty BPA free plastic and is shatterproof. It features a sliding piece on top to cover the spout making your tumbler spill resistant. It has a rubber ring around the edges to ensure a nice tight seal.
The tumbler itself is made of food grade stainless steel and is electropolished on the inside to make it rust-proof. It holds 20 oz and is double walled and vacuum insulated to keep your drinks cold or hot for a longer period of time. This product also comes with a lifetime guarantee, but seeing how heavy duty this tumbler is, I can't imagine ever having to take advantage of this. It's also dishwasher safe, which is another great perk!
Neat Artisan Spirit Glasses 2-Pak - Retail Value $21.95
My husband and I both enjoy drinking bourbon so these glasses were a fun find in this box! This is something that maybe I would buy for him as a gift, so it was nice to get it as part of a box. It's one of those items that you would probably never buy for yourself, but would see it and think that it would be NEAT to have (see what I did there?). I also like that they sent the two pack so that you can share the experience with someone else.
This glass has won several awards and is actually used in major spirit competitions since it is designed to take away the alcohol burn from your spirits so that you only get the pleasant aromas. We didn't have any good bourbon on hand, but we poured some of our trusty Bulleit in there and it definitely improved the aroma. It almost gave it a sweeter smell that was more enjoyable, so I think these really work! It will at least give us an excuse to buy a nice bottle to really test it out on!
Hyperchiller - Retail Value $29.99 (found here for $29.88)
This next item is pretty versatile in that it can be used for coffee, wine, spirits, or really any liquid that you need to cool down quickly. We both love iced coffee occasionally and there have definitely been times when I could have used this to chill a glass of white wine for myself, so I can see us using this pretty often now that we have it.
They included a booklet with instructions complete with pictures which made it easy to get our chiller set up.
Everything gets attached to this lid which has three sets of grooves on it and a spout as well as a recessed area which is where you pour your liquid in.
First, you fill the smaller stainless steel cup with water to the marked fill line and screw it to the plastic lid. The stainless steel is food-grade while the plastic is BPA free.
Next, you use the medium stainless steel cup and fill it with water to the marked fill line, but instead of screwing it onto the lid, you dump the water into the black outer cup and then screw the medium cup on empty.
Then you screw the black piece filled with water onto the lid and put it in the freezer. It says it could take up to 12 hours, but I tested it out after about five and it worked.
Once it has chilled in the freezer you can pour your hot coffee directly from the pot into the reservoir (up to 12.5 ounces) or even brew it directly into the chiller from your one-cup coffee brewer. Then it is just a matter of swirling it gently and letting it rest. The time varies depending on the type and amount of liquid you are using. They even included a handy chart in the booklet for this. I was impressed at how quickly it was able to chill my hot coffee, and not just cooling it down, but actually making it cold like it had been refrigerated!
After using this you simply rinse it out and place it back in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it again. I tested it out by doing coffee first and then testing it out on some bourbon. I didn't notice any flavor transfer which is pretty great. They do recommend taking it apart and washing it periodically, but it's dishwasher safe, so even this is easily done!
Verdict: I was really surprised at the quality of the items we received in our first All He Loves box. My husband and I both thought that the theme was great and that they did a great job of curating items that were unique both in themselves and from one another all while falling into the category of drinkware. They were also a good mix of practical and indulgent. I can see us using the Hyperchiller often, and the Beast cup daily, while the spirit glasses are more of a special occasion glass that will be nice to break out next time we get a nice bottle of booze! The retail value of these items comes to $72.94 which I think is great for a $50.99 ($45 + $5.99 shipping) box and is also higher than their promised retail value of $65. Even though this is a box geared towards men, I totally appreciated all of the items they sent this month, too!
