BoxyCharm March 2019 Review
This month's Boxycharm theme is “La Vie En Rose” which means "Life in Pink" or to sum it up, seeing life through rose-colored glasses. I love this saying because it reminds me to think positive no matter what may be going on. Let's see what lovely products Boxycharm has for the month of March.
- Wander Beauty Lift Off Purifying And Brightening Peel Off Mask
- Cover FX Perfector Face Palette
- MODA Brushes Powder And Soft Glow Kit
- Oryza Opaline To Gloss
- It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara
Our very first product is a special limited edition mask from Wander Beauty. It's their rose gold peel off mask that contains plenty of skin nourishing ingredients, including a mixture of acai, goji berry, blueberry, lychee, mangosteen, and green tea extracts. All these natural ingredients help to replenish dull skin, get rid of excess oils and impurities and also diminish the appearance of enlarged pores. For years, I have suffered from very oily skin, and large pores so I'm hoping to see a difference after using this product.
I first noticed that the product is a pretty rose gold color and has a pretty thick formula. It didn't take too long before I felt my skin tighten up as the product was drying.
The instructions say to first apply an even layer all over your face, avoiding the eye area of course. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes or until the product dries. However, the part I'm looking forward to is the peeling part. Call me crazy but I love to peel things off.
I started to peel from the outer edges first. I also noticed that there was practically no pain involved in peeling the product off. There are some masks that are so painful to peel off, that my eyes would begin to water. Believe me, NOT a good experience. However, this was very easy to remove and left my skin feeling silky smooth and super hydrated! After further use its supposed to lead to a clearer complexion and a healthy glow. I can't wait to see if these claims are true!
Here is how my skin looks after peeling the product off and rinsing my face with warm water. I love how soft and smooth my skin feels. I enjoyed it so much that I could see myself doing this at least once a week!
After the face mask, I added primer and foundation to my skin. I also filled in my brows and added black eyeliner.
Our next product is from MODA and it's a much-needed product. It's the MODA Powder and Soft Glow Brush Set. It's a gorgeous two-piece rose-colored brush set. It's such a gorgeous color that I almost hate to use them! One is a powder brush made to apply your translucent powders and it's a big and fluffy brush that makes it very easy to apply your loose powders. The other brush is a medium fluffy brush that helps to add loose foundations and blush with ease. I Love that BoxyCharm added another brush set to this months box because, in my opinion, you can't go wrong with decent brushes. I now have a very decent brush set from my BoxyCharm boxes so you won't find me complaining about too many brushes!
Our next product is from a brand that we are very familiar with and one that BoxyCharm has used before. It's the Cover FX Perfector Face Palette and it has six different powders to choose from. This is perfect for traveling because you have your highlighter, blush, finishing powder and contour all in one thin compact palette. The formula is Talc-free and easy to blend. There are two different palettes and I received the medium/deep palette. This is a convenient palette that contains all you need to contour, strobe, blush and highlight your complexion all in one. The best part is that its made for all skin types and is clinically tested to be vegan and cruelty-free. This product does not contain any parabens, fragrance, mineral oil, gluten, sulfates, or phthalates, so it's absolutely safe for your skin. Because this is going to be a very simple and natural makeup look I will be using a very light hand when it comes to this palette.
Here is how it looks after using the Cover FX palette.
First, I took our previous product the MODA Soft Glow brush and used it to add blush to the apples of my cheeks. Sometimes it helps to smile so that you can find the right place to add your blush. The brush picked up the product very easily and helped to blend it out seamlessly. After cleaning off the blush I then took the same brush and added my contour. I added it along the sides of my forehead and temples to create balance between the upper and lower half of my face. Next, I added the lighter color of the two highlights to the tip of my nose and the highs of my cheekbones. Although this makeup look is very simple, I feel as though the Perfector Face Palette added a much-needed glow to my face.
Our next product is a familiar one. In fact, we received the exact same product in our October 2018 box so I'm familiar with it and have grown to love it. What I love about the Superhero Mascara from IT Cosmetics is how well it applies without clumping up no matter how many coats I use. It adds volume and length to short and stubby lashes, no matter how short they may be. To sum it up, the brand says that this mascara is skincare for your lashes, and they are definitely correct. The Elastic Stretch Technology makes your lashes appear much wider and longer than they actually are. Their ultra-conditioning formula is perfect for everyday wear and doesn't feel heavy on your lashes. I'm very pleased with the first mascara, how it wears and feels, and I especially love how natural they look. Since I now have two, I'm planning to gift this one to a friend and I'm sure she will love it as much as I do.
Here is how my lashes look after just one coat of the Superhero Mascara.
My last product is from a brand that I have never heard of before. It's from Oryza Beauty and it is their Opaline Top Gloss. The brand says that this can be worn as a topper over any lipstick or worn alone as a subtle gloss. I think because this makeup look is so natural and minimal, that I choose to wear it as a light lip gloss. I received the color Rose Glow and it's a slight peach color with beautiful glitter pieces throughout.
The Rose Glow top gloss has a vanilla scented aroma with a waterproof holographic sheen to it. It's a sheer nude base with a soft pink/peach-ish tint. All I needed was one single coat to get that iridescent shimmer on my lips! This completes my simple yet very natural makeup look, and I love the way it looks and feels. I can't wait to add this topper to different lip colors and various makeup looks.
Verdict: I thought that the March BoxyCharm was a very interesting box. I love getting makeup, skincare, and makeup tools all in one box. If I had to pick two of my favorite items, it would definitely be the rose gold makeup brushes and the peel off face mask because I really enjoyed both and how the mask made my skin look and feel. What do you guys think about the brands and products that Boxycharm choose for the month of March? I am pretty impressed with this month's unique selections and really enjoyed sharing it with you guys!
