Collections by Joya February 2019 Review
Most months, I open my Collections by Joya to find a card featuring a jewelry-bedecked model. This month's image features stacked bracelets and rings, and I'm excited to see a different colorway of the cuff I received in January (see review here) amid the beautiful mess! I didn't love the cuff on its own but worn with these wrap bracelets totally changes things for me. Actually, this styling inspiration is opening my eyes in more ways than one, because I have been sent a lot of labradorite in my Joya boxes and often coveted other stones, but this image showcases it so nicely. I think I'm suddenly a believer!
On the back is a little About blurb, which I'm glad to see as I felt it was lacking in previous boxes. It's set up like a postcard so you can send it along to a friend to spread the word about this amazing brand if you so wish!
Each month's jewelry comes tucked in a canvas pouch! I get such a heart-fluttery feeling every time I go to open it. Here's what I found inside!
Fringe! Geometric shapes! Gold tones! All things I love in jewelry. We're off to a great start!
Sonia Fringe Earrings, Navy — Retail Value $68.95
It will come as no surprise to those of you who have been following along with my Joya reviews that these earrings are so 'me!' You may recall that I used the gift card provided in November's box to purchase the non-fringe version of the Sonia Earrings. If there was a fringe version available at the time, I was unaware of it, but still probably would have gone for the non-fringe version anyway. I took a picture of them next to each other to show you the comparison below.
I've been getting into mixing navy and black lately, as I did here. I've never been a huge stickler on avoiding mixing base tones but I started combining navy and black more and more last month after receiving a different pair of navy fringe earrings (also shown below). On the day I opened my box, I was just wearing jeans and a T-shirt, but I think these earrings turned it into an actual outfit!
Here you can see my Roman Earrings from last month, the Sonia Earrings I bought using my gift card, and the Sonia Fringe Earrings from this month all in a row. They're pretty similar, right? I should probably get rid of at least one pair but right now I just can't bring myself to! They all offer a slightly different vibe to my outfits. If you were to give away one pair, which would it be?
Niagra Tassel Necklace, Ivory
The next piece in my delivery is this unique pendant necklace with a white tassel. Joya is always good for a hammered gold accessory, and in the case of this necklace, I think the hammering turns it into something really elegant. I absolutely love it.
My necklace arrived with the chain only strung through one of the pendant's loops, but it was easy enough to shimmy it into the other one without even having to unclasp it. Though now that I think of it, I guess that ease-of-shimmying is how it came out in the first place, so I'll probably take some pliers and cinch the loop closed a bit.
Like the earrings (and with the earrings), this piece turns a simple outfit into something with a little oomph! I know some of you out there aren't fans of all the fringe, but I personally find it tasteful since it's two neutral colors.
Geometric Labradorite Necklace — Retail Value $58.95
And, finally, another out-of-the-ordinary pendant necklace. Look, it's labradorite, my new friend!
How beautiful is this particular piece when it catches the light? Not all labradorite stones are quite this lovely, though I wish they were.
Love it! I decided to wear this outfit, including this second necklace and the earrings, to an acoustic show that night. I felt good in it!
Verdict: The three items that arrived in the February Joya box were all total wins for me, and made up for my slight disappointment from January! Even though the earrings are extremely similar to two pairs I own, I love their style. The necklaces are unlike anything currently in my jewelry collection, so I'm really excited to see how they end up being worked into my looks throughout the week.
This box costs $49.95, including free shipping. The earrings and two necklaces add up to $196.85, which is a mind-blowing deal! Wow!
