Derma E Hydrating Day Cream, Full-Size! Retail Value $29.50
I have enjoyed most of the Derma E products I have tried from the line, so I definitely wasn't expecting this cream to be the disaster it turned out to be. It is designed for dry, dehydrated skin (that's me!), and it is made with hyaluronic acid, green tea leaf extract, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, and aloe. Honestly, I don't know where this cream went wrong, but it never fully absorbed into my skin and left it feeling like there was a film over my face. I tried it two different times, and both times I absolutely hated how it left a firm film on my face. This is supposed to be good under makeup, but there is no way I would want to apply makeup on top of this cream. It's hard to explain the weird way it felt once this dried down on my face, but this is definitely a no for me.
Derma E Hydrating Eye Cream, Full-Size! Retail Value $21.50
After my experience with the day cream I was very wary of this eye cream, but luckily it turned out to be just a nice, regular eye cream. Made with hyaluronic acid, green tea leaf extract, vitamin E, and vitamin A, this felt hydrating to the skin under my eyes and I didn’t experience any sensitivity or irritation to my occasionally sensitive eyes.
First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads, 10 pads – Estimated Value $5.71 (buy 28 pads for $16)
These treatment pads contain lactic and glycolic acid (which are chemical exfoliants), which work to refine dull skin and uneven skin tone. These are gentle enough for everyday use, and I love bringing these with me for travel because of how easy it is to toss this in my makeup bag and have a good treatment at my fingertips. These are also made with aloe and cucumber extract, so this should be safe for most skin types- even if you’re sensitive!
Wet N Wild Beauty Pro Tapered Highlighting Brush – Retail Value $5.99
This is a great quality brush for the $6 price tag- the bristles are incredibly soft, the rose gold handle is chic to look at and has a nice weight to it, and the bristles are dense enough to pick up powder with ease without grabbing too much. This also goes perfectly with the next item in the box:
Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Powder in Opal, Full-Size! Retail Value $22
This isn’t the massive full-size powder from Becca, but you can buy this smaller size from Sephora so this is full-size in my book. This is such a classic highlighter, and it is for good reason! The pigment is beautiful, and the formula is buttery smooth. It can be blended out with ease (with my new highlighting brush!), and you can also build it up for a blinding glare if that is your style. The shade Opal is described as a golden pearl, and I really think it should be flattering on almost any skin tone.
ColourPop Cosmetics Sol Shadow Palette – Retail Value $12
Wow, these are some vivid shades- this coral palette definitely puts me out of my comfort zone! It contains a mix of oranges, pinks, and coppers, and it has four matte shades, four metallic, and one satin. When I tried to create a look with this palette I was literally on my way to the bathroom to wash this off my face when I saw just how blue these orange shades made my eyes look (I also dove right in and selected the bright metallic orange shade floaties with the matte burnt orange dynamite. I ended up using the shade hotel, a shimmery metallic copper, to soften up the entire look, and I was pleased with the end result. As a whole, I thought some of the shades on this palette were a touch chalky, but they all did end up blending out beautifully. Also, I didn’t realize until JUST now, but there is a fine print asterisk next to the names of some of the shadows that says “not intended for use in the immediate eye area.” Really Colourpop?
Here are the shadows swatched below a heavy-handed swipe of the Becca highlighter.
Here I am wearing the sol palette on my eyes and the Becca highlighter before going out on a Saturday night. If you like the lipstick I am wearing, look for my upcoming Bless Box review!
The Verdict: I thought this curated assortment from Derma-E was fabulous! While not every product was a home run for me, overall I am really happy with the items included. I also think the value on this kit was pretty great, too - I calculated a value of $96.70, which is great for a $35 box (and even better if you nabbed it for $24.50 with the 30% off code). I genuinely wish this box was still available so more of you could get it - it is worth it for the highlighter and eye cream alone!
To Wrap Up:
Can you get this box if you sign up today? No, this is sold out.
