March 2019 Enchanted Crystal Variety Box Review
First, you'll see a note from Adam of Enchanted Crystal. Adam went back to the Tucson Gem Show for a second time to collect even more amazing crystals for us in the future.
Amethyst Cluster
One can never have enough amethyst. Look at that juicy purple color! I love these clusters because in addition to having tons of pointy crystal goodness they also nearly always have interesting bottoms. I love looking at the cross-section of crystals like this and seeing how an ugly rock slowly turns into crystal magic, layer upon layer. Kind of like a time lapse of me waking up and putting on makeup in the morning! Amethyst is one of those stones that is said to have a host of healing benefits, such as stress relief, cleansing, and enhancing intuitiveness. I love to keep them around because they are just beautiful to look at.
Brazilian Quartz
This gorgeous cluster looks like pure ice out of the front of a fridge door. I love the shape of this large crystal and the bottom is nearly flat! It is actually the perfect size for sitting between my laptop keyboard and screen. Yeah, I went there. Do you guys remember when Spencer Pratt from the Hills bought ALL of the crystals? I am basically him right now.
Rose Quartz
I love getting quartz in crystal boxes because they just look really cool! This pretty pink crystal has such beautiful lines and striations. Rose quartz is a love stone and highly cherished in healing for its ability to encourage trust and unconditional love. The rose color actually comes from small amounts of titanium, iron, or manganese (SCIENCE!) and it can range from the palest rose to a deeper pink.
Pyrite
I remember getting my first piece of Fool's Gold on a family trip to Arkansas, where my Mom would take me to a bunch of little hole in the wall rock and crystal shops. It is easy to see why people thought this was gold. It has a metallic flashy finish and feels heavier than it should for its size. This mineral also displays some super interesting geometric complexities and it is not uncommon to find specimens in perfect cube shapes! Fun fact, you can also strike pyrite with flint or another piece of pyrite to create a spark and build a fire. Try it out on your next camping trip to really impress your fancy friends. Now that's glamping!
Tibetian Quartz
These humble little quartz pieces are probably my favorite this month because they have really interesting inclusions. I THINK the inclusions are probably bits of black carbon, but who knows! Lots of interesting stuff can get stuck inside crystals when the minerals build up around them. These look like pure chipped glass and when held up to light you can also see light bent into different colors and rainbows.
Enchanted Crystal always sends bonus crystals or minerals in a small bag as well.
Black Tourmaline
I have quite a few pieces of this handsome black stone. It is widely considered a stone of protection, and if you have never carried a piece of this around in your bra, you can't judge me for believing it. These particular pieces have interesting white inclusions.
Rough Amethyst
I love that this sub sends perfectly polished crystals as well as rough pieces like this amethyst pair. These have a foggy coating that is really interesting!
Madagascar Quartz
This was a quartz heavy month, and you will hear no complaints from me! I have always loved these little interesting quartz pieces ever since I was a kid and an older man at one of those Arkansas rock shops told me they were fairy teeth. That was pretty magical for a kid, and also terrifying because I didn't know if he was lying or not. These have interesting orange residue on them, which I am guessing is some sort of clay or iron.
Verdict: Enchanted Crystal is always a sub I look forward to each month, and this month I was so thrilled to get both their Crystal of the Month and this larger Crystal Variety box! This is truly a fantastic sub for anyone who uses crystal in healing or just has an interest in them for science or beauty, or for those of us who just like shiny things. I am obsessed with these larger specimens and already have them surrounding my workspace. The amethyst is beautiful and quite big, as is the ice quartz. Pyrite takes me back to my childhood and the rose quartz wand is so girly and marvelous. I always enjoy the little bags of extra minerals too, because they might be small, but they are always weird or interesting.
