This month’s community challenge is a little different from what Faithbox has done in the past. Last month’s theme was “Money” and Faithbox received such positive feedback, they partnered with Thrivent Financial for a 2-step approach to money and our relationships with our spouse/partner.
Step 1: Reflect on your childhood
Step 2: Make a commitment to each other, both steps have questions for the spouse/partner to reflect on and share and prompt engagement and a commitment to one another regarding finances.

Beeloved Trading-Orginal Lip Balm 0.4oz – Retail Value $5.00
This moisturizing lip balm came in a small tin. When I applied it, it had a menthol, cooling, tingling sensation on my lips. I’m not a big fan of lip balms that come in a tin and need to apply with my fingers. I often worry about germs or the sanitation of the product. The lip balm consists of, beeswax, shea butter, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, Vitamin E oil, peppermint oil, and black cherry oil.
A lip balm represents a measure of 1,200 miles flown by bees. Plus, Beeloved empowers and trains adults and youth in the art of beekeeping as well as other skills, read their story here. There is also an info card included with the lip balm and a code for 30% off all non-honey products.
All in by Mark Batterson – Retail Value $17.99 (Found here for $11.40)
The first two chapters give an introduction to being “All in” for Jesus and by doing so your life will be transformed. This quote sums it up, “Consecration is going all in and all out for the All in All”. Book summary:
Eternity will reveal that holding out is losing out. The message of All In is simple: if Jesus is not Lord of all then Jesus is not Lord at all. It’s all or nothing.
The Gospel costs nothing. You can’t earn it or buy it. It can only be received as a free gift compliment of God’s grace. It doesn’t cost anything, but it demands everything. It demands that we go “all in,” a term that simply means placing all that you have into God’s hands. Pushing it all in. And that’s where we get stuck―spiritual no man’s land. We’re afraid that if we go all in that we might miss out on what this life has to offer. It’s not true. The only thing you’ll miss out on is everything God has to offer. And the good news is this: if you don’t hold out on God, God won’t hold out on you. Readers will find Batterson’s writing filled with his customary vivid, contemporary illustrations as well as biblical characters like Shamgar and Elisha and Jonathan and . . . Judas.
No one has ever sacrificed anything for God. If you always get back more than you gave up, have you sacrificed anything at all? The eternal reward always outweighs the temporal sacrifice. At the end of the day, our greatest regret will be whatever we didn’t give back to God. What we didn’t push back across the table to Him. Eternity will reveal that holding out is losing out.
The message of All In is simple: if Jesus is not Lord of all then Jesus is not Lord at all. It’s all or nothing. It’s now or never. Kneeling at the foot of the cross of Christ and surrendering to His Lordship is a radical act of dethroning yourself and enthroning Christ as King. It’s also an act of disowning yourself. Nothing belongs to you. Not even you.
Batterson writes, “For many years, I thought I was following Jesus. I wasn’t. I had invited Jesus to follow me. I call it inverted Christianity. And it’s a subtle form of selfishness that masquerades as spirituality. That’s when I sold out and bought in. When did we start believing that the gospel is an insurance plan? It’s a daring plan. Jesus did not die just to keep us safe. He died to make us dangerous.”
Story Of My Tea – Estimated Value $2.95 (buy 20 tea bags for $11.99)
I received a sampling of the mango rose green tea that included five tea bags. The tea has a dash of invigorating and sweet mango with floral hints of roses. The tea was a perfect blend of mango rose green tea leaves with an exquisite flavor. The touch of fruitiness was yummy as well as the orange blossom honey that I added to my tea, which I received in this months box, added a touch of sweetness. Subscribers received either mango rose green tea or chocolate mint tea and there is a $5 off promotion code included in the Impact Guide for their website. Story Of My Tea also offers a blind tea tasting subscription.
Honey Teasers, pack of 5 – Retail Value $2.00
I received 5 honey sticks in the flavor orange blossom. These honey sticks are delicious and have a nice orange flavor. The honey stick is 100% pure honey and the stick is 7” long and yields1 teaspoon (5grams) of US Grade A honey. Included in the Impact Guide is a 20% discount for subscribers on their website.
Custom Watercolor Art Design Cards – Estimated Value $5.00
I received 2 5x7 cards, a desktop calendar and a note card that was beautifully hand drawn and painted in watercolors and then digital produced. The cards were created by watercolorist Madeline Harwell a young American artist introduced to Faithbox while working on a previous edition of Faithbox with the band members Citizen Way and a collaboration began. The calendar card is for March 2019. The March calendar has a scripture taken from Proverbs 16:3 NIV, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans”. I love the yellow honeycomb patterns and tiny bees throughout the desk calendar card. The note card says, “you may have to fight a battle more than once to win it” Margaret Thatcher. Maddy’s illustrations are gorgeous and I look forward to her designs throughout the year.
Spiritual Inventory
A Faithbox exclusive, a spiritual inventory for the month. The spiritual inventory has two sides, on one side of the card it has, “my verse for the month,” “spiritual practice,” and a numerical chart to circle each day that I did something for my focus for the month. And on the back of the card “pay it forward,” “list three ways God has blessed me this month,” and “where am I on my spiritual journey.”
Everyday Faith
Each month I receive Everyday Faith, and this month is all about “Commitment”. The booklet is a monthly devotional with scriptures and quotes to guide me through the month, spiritually.
The Verdict: For $30 a month ($25 plus $5 shipping), I receive products curated around a theme, along with a spiritual inventory and Everyday Faith devotional. The March Faithbox has an estimated value of $32.94 for the curated products. This box was enjoyable: sipping the tea with the orange blossom honey, using the lip balm (I may get a lip brush to use with it), and displaying the custom watercolor design card and calendar card in my apartment. The community challenge is something I may try with my guy and the book will be an encouragement for my mother. As always, this box has a little something to give me encouragement and if not, I can bless a stranger, friend, or loved one. The spiritual component is consistent and provoking as well as companies and brands that are giving back to their community and providing resources and skills to those in need.
