Kira Kira Crate February 2019 “Treat Yourself” Review
This box always comes with a booklet that describes all the items and how to use them, which is great for me because the majority of the packaging isn’t written in English! They also feature customer photos that use the hashtag #kirakiracrate to share on social media and include a great how-to on using the items in the box. This month’s theme is “Treat Yourself,” and I’m excited to see what’s inside to help me start some new beauty routines!
Malibu Eyeshadow Quad
I don’t always receive a ton of makeup in my Kira Kira Crates, so I’m always happy to see something like this eyeshadow quad! I think this group is a really nice color palette; I tend to wear a lot of metallics when it comes to eyeshadow, and I love shadows that can do double duty. The black can sub in for eyeliner if I want a super-smoky look, and the white can serve a highlighter for the corners of my eyes and my brow bone if I need it to!
Kiss Holic Lip Gloss
I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m a lip gloss fiend! I don’t know what it is; I just never grew into lipstick like I always assumed I would. There is only a single brand of liquid lipstick that I can even tolerate! I will never say no to a bright, poppy pink gloss; even though there’s a lot of pink in my skin, I think the color looks nice on me, and it’s an easy way to look a bit more done up. There isn’t a ton of color payoff with this gloss, but the shine is nice, and the formula is super-smooth, with no amount of stickiness. I’m surprised to report that this has virtually no smell, but I don’t mind - I’d rather that than a scent I don’t like!
Pure Smile Brown Sugar Sheet Mask
I’m no stranger to sheet masks, and the packaging of this impressed me right off the bat! I liked that the most important ingredients were listed right on the front of the package. Collagen and Hyaluronic acid are the heavy-hitters here, with a backup of minerals to offer additional nourishment to skin. It has a nice, generically clean smell, and I always love the black masks - they make for a great selfie! I thought my skin actually did look brighter after using.
Shikioriori Tsubaki Cleaning Oil
Boy, was I happy to see this package! The brand was familiar to me; I previously went bananas for their hair treatment I received a couple of months ago, and this cleansing oil has the same absolutely delicious cherry blossom smell. It’s supposed to be the first line of defense, offering moisture to skin and it seemed like this removed eye shadow in particular pretty well. I think my favorite part is the pump bottle action - it makes this super easy to use! I thought it was gentle on my skin, but I don’t have a lot of problems in that arena; sensitive skin users, as always, will want to test on their skin. My favorite thing was that the smell seemed to really linger during the day - a few friends asked me why I smelled so good that day!
Fluffy Head Wrap Towel
Readers, I have so much hair. I even have a pretty intense undercut, and it still seems like I’m constantly battling it! One of my biggest self-care struggles is corralling my curls as soon as I’m out of the shower. This little towel is absolutely perfect for that purpose! I liked the button closure, and I didn’t have too much trouble using this on my hair.
Verdict: This Kira Kira Crate definitely WAS a treat! I liked the grouping of products and the little routine outlined in the booklet to do things both day and night to pamper myself. The mix of products I can use after hours at home, and things that I can find useful in daylight was a great balance and the products fit into my existing routines pretty flawlessly. The lip gloss was a real standout for me; it immediately went into my current purse to be used daily until it’s all gone! I really liked the cleansing oil; my husband also really liked the smell. I also loved the hair towel, and the sheet mask and eyeshadow really rounded out the box nicely.
