Lip Monthly March 2019 "New Adventures" Review
This month's theme is “New Adventures" and I really love the design of this card! I almost wish this was on our bag for this month. The card also includes a coupon code for 20% in their shop this month.
Each month, Lip Monthly sends their products in a little makeup bag and even though it's not as cute as the hot air balloons, I still really like this design! This teal is a perfect spring color and the white flecks remind me of seeds and flowers. The bag is small, just a bit bigger than my iPhone plus (which doesn't fit inside) and is made of soft material.
Appeal Cosmetics Holographic Lipgloss in Trendsetter - Retail Value $21
When I saw this tube, it brought me back to my middle school lip gloss days, but this grown-up version of a sparkly lip gloss is much prettier! Not only is it beautiful in the tube, but it gives such a nice subtle, yet shimmery gloss to your lips and I think it enhanced every single product I received this month easily. This is my new go-to lip topper when I want to add a little shine!
I'm going for a 'messy hair, don't care' look here...but really we are in the midst of a kitchen renovation, so I'm a bit more disheveled than usual. Sorry! You can see how nice and natural the gloss looks on and it's not too sticky! It's actually infused with argan oil, so it might be providing a bit of moisture to my lips as well.
Perse Professional Smearproof LipLiner by Sorme Cosmetics in Nudist
This is probably my least favorite product this month. This pencil definitely needs to be primed a bit before applying to your lips because it isn't the smoothest product. I had a little trouble getting an even line and the color is a bit too brown/nude for my lips. As for being smearproof, it seemed to stay put pretty well on my lips. It says it's by Sorme Cosmetics, but I couldn't locate it anywhere online.
While the coloring wasn't quite right for me, I was pretty happy with the way it looked after adding some of my holographic lipgloss on top. It was just a nice subtle nude around the edges.
Bang Beauty Lip Crayon in Kiss Me - Retail Value $18
I really loved the shade of this lip crayon in the tube, but once applied it turned into more of a chalky pink nude. This crayon actually feels like more of a light lip balm and it wore down to a nice sheer pink on my lips, which I liked.
I do think it is a really pretty spring color and I did like the formula which felt moisturizing even though it comes across as almost a matte shade. Although I'm sure it doesn't help that my lips are a bit chapped at the moment.
Of course, adding a layer of holographic gloss on top definitely made it look much better!
Dirty Little Secret Cream Lipstick in Barely There - Retail Value $14
This one smells just like vanilla cupcakes, although it does not taste the same, unfortunately! I love this cute packaging and the name Barely There is completely appropriate for how lightweight this formula is. It goes on nice and creamy and then it's like it just disappears into your lips. It did wear down to a ring around my lips which I didn't like, but I think some primer could help with that.
This color is actually similar to the Bang Beauty crayon, but a little more rosy and a hint more shine. While I don't have a photo of it, adding the holographic gloss underneath really makes this color pop!
Swatches from top to bottom: Sorme Pencil, Bang Crayon, DLS Cream Lipstick, Holographic Lipgloss. I think that this is one time when the swatches look a lot different than how they appear in your lips! Especially the Bang Beauty! It looks so sheer here, but was definitely pigmented and almost opaque on my lips.
Verdict: There were so many nude shades in this Lip Monthly selection, but I think they were all different enough that I was happy overall. If nothing else, I'm excited about the holographic lipgloss which costs more than this subscription making all the other products feel like bonuses! The three products I was able to find values for added up to $53, which is great for a $12.95 box!
