My Fashion Crate March 2019 Review
They always include an insert with descriptions of the items and their value. The front side lists everything you will receive in the Essentials box while the back also shows what you get in the Premium box and they include pictures which I always appreciate.
Stylish Open Front Blazer, Size L - Listed Value $50
This blazer seems completely unexpected, in a good way! It is made of 100% polyester, but it is nice and thick with a satin-like liner and it even has shoulder pads and faux pockets on the front. Usually, the clothing they send is very lightweight, but this is a substantial blazer, although still lightweight for this type of clothing. The material has a bit of texture to it and it features these fun bell sleeves that add just a bit of flare. I really loved the way this blazer looked and that it even had some detail on the back to give it a more fitted look. It feels like a nice quality piece that can be a staple in almost any wardrobe!
Here is a closeup of the bell sleeves, which might actually be my favorite part!
4 Spiral Matte Hair Tie Set - Listed Value $10
These spiral hair ties are very on trend right now and I love the colors in this set. I think that there should be one here to suit almost any hair color since they range in shade. These are a bit thicker than others I have tried and seem to bounce back to their original shape pretty quickly. I'm happy to have this set of cute colored hair ties since this is one accessory that you can never have enough of!
Mirabella Chroma Eyeshadow - Retail Value $50
I love this sleek compact that includes a mirror. The quality of the compact itself is great and the colors are beautiful! I really think that there is a shade for every season and maybe a shade or two just for fun. They range from a nice shimmer to a light sheen and while all of them had a bit of sparkle to them, none were too over the top to keep them from being a good everyday shadow. This formula is free of parabens, gluten, and talc and they are cruelty-free. I think that these shades have a nice bit of pigment to them, but what I really like is that they are very buildable and blend well together.
Here are the swatches from top to bottom on my arm starting from the right of the palette: Eminence, Prismatic, Washed, Hue, Majesty, Amusing, Goddess.
Here I have Eminence in the outer corner, Prismatic in the center, and Washed on the inner corners. I went very lightly since I was going for a more natural, everyday look so I did notice that it faded some throughout the day, but to be fair, I didn't use a primer either. I didn't experience any fallout though and found the shadows to be silky and smooth. It really is just such a pretty little compact and it might be my new go-to travel shadow set since it can cover a range of day to night looks!
Pure Cosmetics Pure Lano Natural Lip Treatment - Retail Value $20
This natural lip treatment is made from lanolin, jojoba seed oil, sweet almond oil, and vitamin E and is meant to restore moisture and protect your lips. The formula is pretty thick, a bit sticky and tasted a bit plastic-like, but I have to say that it worked fairly quickly on my incredibly dry and cracked lips and the taste faded quickly as well. They felt super rough before applying and an hour later they felt super smooth and moisturized.
While this isn't something I'd want to wear all day, it has been great as a bedtime application. I put some on my lips and wake up to softer, smoother lips! I suffer from dry lips all winter long and I am always looking for items to improve my lips, so while I'm not that into the thick texture or taste, I will gladly use this since it seems to be working.
Hero Cosmetics Mighty Patch Original (6 patches) - Listed Value $2.50 (Buy 36 patches here for $12.99)
I am pretty fortunate in that I don't get breakouts too often, probably because my skin is so dry, but I just happened to have a little something brewing on my chin this morning so I was happy I could test this patch out! This packet comes with six little clear dots which contain hydrocolloid which help to dry out your blemishes and heal them while also protecting them from any outside dirt that might make them worse. While it was pretty discreet on my face, I don't know if I would wear these out in public, but I do love how easy they are to use. You cleanse the area and then apply the patch giving it at least six hours to work, then when it turns opaque, you know it worked and you can remove it! So did it work for me? In the morning when I woke up, it was still a bit red, but it felt much better and was smooth and not raised meaning it could easily be covered with makeup. I'd say that makes this a great find!
The following items are only in the Premium Box:
Darling Olive Top - Listed Value $38
I really love the color of this olive green top! The blouse actually has a little bit of a sheen to it and that little bit of ruffle at the sleeves really steps it up and makes it a bit more fashionable. It has a good amount of stretch to it and it is a bit clingier than I would like, but I might be able to solve that by adding a cami underneath. This shirt is definitely my style and I think there are multiple ways to dress it up whether through jewelry or perhaps a black blazer.
I think the black and green complement each other nicely!
Here is a closeup of the fabric which is closer to the actual color than the modeled photos.
Luminous Geometric Cosmetic Pouch - Retail Value $21, Listed Value $28
This vegan cosmetic bag is seriously the chameleon of makeup bags! First, the color is somewhat iridescent and has hints of matte black or shimmery purple and green depending on how the light hits it and the shape is also incredibly versatile. Depending on your needs this can flatten down to fit in another bag or open up wide to hold a good bit of stuff.
Or you can fold in the bottom sides for a nice medium size bag! The way that these stiff little triangles work is so fun to play around with since they can be molded and changed so easily. I even saw somewhere that they folded the sides in and made it more of a square shape which I am eager to try. This bag is so unique and I'm pretty pleased with it!
Verdict: I thought that this was another great mix of items from My Fashion Crate this month. The clothing was great and while I would never have even tried on a blazer like this, I am so glad they sent one to force me out of my comfort zone because I think it's a great look! As for the rest of the items, I think I will get use out of every single item they sent! The eyeshadow is beautiful and such a nice compact for travel that will fit perfectly inside the versatile makeup bag. The Mighty Patches have already come in handy and my lips are finally feeling like lips again after using the lip treatment which is pretty amazing and I'm definitely happy!
The total for the Premium box comes to $191.50 this month, which is awesome for a $55.90 ($49.95 + $4.95 shipping) box. As for the Essentials box, the value is $132.50 which is still a great value for a $40.95 ($35 + $5.95 shipping) box. When comparing the two subscriptions, for $14.95 extra for the Premium box we received the green top and the makeup bag valued at $66.
