March 2019 No Make No Life Box "Vibrant Vibes" Review
The booklet list gives you detailed information on each item, as well as instructions on how to use certain products. It also has other helpful info, and this month included a little write up on the difference between K- Beauty, and J- Beauty which I found interesting! This sub has both types. This month's theme is 'Vibrant Vibes' and it looks like we have a ton of variety in this box.
BK 7 Cake Hand Cream in Banana
This packaging is too cute! It is shaped like a slice of cake. You could get one of three flavors of this cream, and ours is banana. I know banana is a polarizing scent/flavor, but I happen to love it! I am always the one who will happily eat any banana flavored candy (I see you Laffy Taffy!) and this scent reminded me very much of that candy scent, but it was less artificial and in your face. Somewhere on the end, there is actually a hint of floral, which was very interesting. While I am not sure this smell is for most people, I kind of dig it. The formula itself is pretty standard. Your hands feel moisturized but nothing over the top is happening here.
Berrison Animal Mask in Dog - Retail Value $3.99
Any animal mask usually cracks me up, because the mask itself has some silly print of an animal head. This one is no exception! It has a puppy face instead of the normal solid sheet mask. My husband always gets a good laugh when I use these. This one has really no remarkable scent and it is full of clear serum. The power ingredient here is the hyaluronic acid, a moisture bomb for your skin. Mine was left feeling calm and super hydrated after use, with no stickiness.
Etude House Look At My Eyes Eye Shadow - Retail Value $4.60 (found here for $2.76)
I don't wear eyeshadow super often, but when I do this is the type I like. In my experience, I have found that Korean shadows, while still super pigmented, tend to be very sheer and buildable, meaning for a more natural look they are perfect. This one is no exception, when applied lightly it gives your lid a beautifully shaded wash of dirty plum, with a hint of shimmer. With a heavier hand, you have an incredibly bold look.
Here I swatched it at three different pigmentations. It is super versatile!
BK7 Candy Lip Tint in Red Orange
I was not a fan of this product. The packaging was weird and there wasn't much inside. The color itself was fine, but when applied to my lips left a ring of orange around the edges, while the rest of my lips were red. The scent was too sweet (although I recognize this is a candy themed product) and I did not care for the texture.
Red Mascara
I know this month's theme is Vibrant Vibes but I can't see most people using a red mascara often. The formula was fine, it did its job and coated my lashes a vibrant red. No scent here, and a nice size and shaped brush.
On the left: Red Mascara. On the right: Candy Lip Tint.
Wavy Curler Hair Set
I actually think this product would work well for me, I would just need twice as many! have super thick hair that is also very long, and I got through about half of my head when I ran out of foam pieces. What hair I could wind onto them did have a great wave in the morning. I found that when I started about halfway down my strand where was enough room to create a beachy wave. If I had started any higher up, my ends would have been hanging off. This would be a great option for someone like myself who likes to shower at night and sleep with damp strands for an air dried style.
Mineral Ion Hairbrush
This smaller hairbrush has bristles that have mineral ores in them to condition your hair as you brush it. I personally noticed no real difference between this and my normal hairbrush, but it is really cute and a great smaller size for your weekend bag.
Facial Cleansing Brush
This brush is full of the densest and softest bristles I have ever felt on a facial brush. I tend to avoid harsh exfoliators on my face, and I really liked this when combined with my facewash. It creates a rich lather and feels great against my skin.
Verdict: No Make No Life Box was a little hit and miss for me this month. I disliked the mascara and lip gloss. On the other hand, the banana cream was a treat and I loved the facial brush and eyeshadow. A small hairbrush is always handy, and the foam rollers were a good thought, I just have too much hair. I like how this box sends both Japanese and Korean products that are often unheard of in the States. If you are an adventurous beauty junkie, you will probably really like this box.
