Pearlesque Box March 2019 Review feat. Franklin & Whitman
This month's featured brand is Franklin & Whitman.
The opposite side of the info card details the included items, how to use them, their price, and a #pearltip.
Franklin & Whitman Washington Square Botanical Steam, 4 oz. - Retail Value $21.95
I thought that I had received this same product in another beauty box back in December, but it was actually a different botanical steam by the same company. This one feels more Springtime with the organic rose petals, lavender, and calendula. There's nothing like having steam open your pores while at the facialist so this is a really fun and relaxing way to bring that experience home with even more uplifting scents. All you have to do is add a couple of teaspoons to a bowl of boiled water (letting it cool a little first) and place your face over the bowl while covering yourself with a towel to make sort of a tent. It seems a little awkward at first but the benefits and feel are worth it. It's like tea for your skin! Really enjoying this blend!
Franklin & Whitman Walnut Hill Facial Serum, 1 oz. - Retail Value $39.95
I love the DIY approach this brand takes with their handmade products which you can see from their simple yet effective ingredients. The serum is made with vitis vinifera oil, argania spinosa oil, rosa canina seed oil, punica granatum seed oil, d-alpha tocopheryl oil (vitamin E) which adheres to their "less than 10 ingredients" rule. Just one pump is more than enough product to spread across my face and neck. The consistency is rather thin, like a facial oil but does get soaked up by my dry winter skin pretty easily. On top of hydrating the skin, the ingredients should help lessen dark spots, fine lines, and scars. There is no scent besides the light natural oil from the ingredients and this really leaves my skin feeling soft and plump.
Franklin & Whitman Oak Lane Face Mask, 2 oz. - Retail Value $24.95
I had so much fun with this mask! There aren't many things I enjoy more than mixing a powdered mask in my little ceramic bowl and brushing it onto my face. I just love the whole process. This particular mask has just four ingredients: rhassoul clay, theobroma cacao, curcuma longa, carbo activatus which they've created to fight acne. I'm normally pretty safe in that area but lately, my chin has been breaking out, so in addition to a full face mask, I can use this as a spot treatment for problem areas. I ended up using some geranium and white tea skin tonic I had gotten last month in another beauty box instead of just water to add some extra benefits to this mask. I love combining products I've received to make them even better, as well as experimenting with mask ingredients! I ended up making a little more than planned, but that allowed me to paint this super creamy and thick mask on with reckless abandon. After 15 minutes, the mask was almost but not completely dry and I used warm water and the help of a washcloth to remove the deep chocolate brown clay from my face. The result was wonderful and fresh but the ritual and downtime were important steps in getting there.
Franklin & Whitman Bella Vista Lip Balm, 0.5 oz. - Retail Value $11.95
Wow- really quite impressed with this balm!! The peppermint, orange, and rosemary scent is fantastic and the solid balm melted effortlessly as I spread it on my lips to create an ultra-moisturizing layer. This is definitely going to be my new bedside lip balm for nighttime use although it's great all day as well. I like the little tingle the peppermint leaves behind as well.
Verdict: Pearlesque Box highlighted a great indie brand this month who is committed to doing more with less, using recycled packaging, and donating proceeds to pups in need. On top of all that, they make some darn good products! I'm pleased with the variety Pearlesque Box chose to include and was especially into the mask and lip balm (no surprise there, right?).
