Pet Treater is a subscription box for dogs. Select from small (up to 20 pounds), medium (21-50 pounds), and large (51+ pounds), along with the $15 a month Dog Pack or $25 a month Deluxe Dog Pack options.
This review is for a large dog, $25 a month Deluxe Dog Pack box. My dog Nyx, a Rottweiler, is about 86 pounds right now.
My Subscription Addiction paid for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Pet Treater March 2019 Review
There’s not a traditional information card with this subscription so there’s not always a stated theme, but you will occasionally see some commonalities running throughout the box contents (there was sort of a St. Patrick's Day theme this month):
There isn’t an item list with this subscription (it is my understanding some items may vary), but you usually get a picture of a dog. There’s also sometime an ad or a bit of product literature.
Petlou Dump 18” Bone
It really says “Dump” on the tag. I think because these are made to be sold from giant wholesale containers with dozens of toys inside. Or at least, that’s the sense I get from searching this item online. If you actually go looking for these to purchase individually, you can’t find the 18” size, although Chewy has them in 16” and 22” so I’d estimate the price to be somewhere between $6.99 and $10.99. This has two different types of squeakers and Nyx liked it, though she was mostly interested in pulling the fleece off of it.
Shamrock Cookie from Emmy’s Gourmet Canine Creations
This cookie style isn’t available on the Emmy’s website, but other individual cookies are sold for $1.35 each. You’ll get one of these most months in Pet Treater and they are usually seasonal and/or relate to the box theme. Sometimes they are regular stock for Emmy’s and sometimes, like this one, they are not. Emmy’s is a small Tennessee company and it is kind of fun to see them partner with a subscription box.
Plaid Kerchief
You do get kerchiefs in Pet Treater fairly often, and they are usually custom printed. But this one really gives the appearance of someone having just taken a large bolt of cloth and cut it with scissors. It was not hemmed or finished around the edges in any way and did not have a tag. You know how when you are cutting with scissors, especially something a little stretchy, and you have to move the scissors along so you don’t get a super even line? You can see that here, in the second picture. This was just barely big enough to fit Nyx and you can see her modeling it below.
Pez Candy Dispenser
I found these on the Pez site with two packages of candy for $1.79 (on sale for $1.25) but as you can see, this one has three packages of candy, so it’s not the same precise item. (I found some of these in 12-packs with what looked like three packages of candy elsewhere, so these do appear to be official merchandise.) Pet Treater will usually include an item “for your human” and I guess this is it for the month. I haven’t thought about Pez in years and I may try to pass this along to someone with kids who will get a little more out of this than I will.
Exclusively Dog Carob and Vanilla Flavor Sandwich Cremes (8 oz) – Retail Value $5.99 (found here for $4.58)
These have undergone a packaging change but appear to be otherwise the same item (the ones I got expired on March 1, which is before I received this box, though). I see this brand fairly often in dog subscription boxes. These are kosher, made with no animal parts or byproducts (they do contain dairy though), and made and sourced in the USA. These have wheat and soy so they won’t work for all dogs with allergies, though they should be fine if your dog has a specific meat protein allergy.
Ethical Skinneeez Plus Snake – Retail Value $7.99
I’ve seen items from this product line for cats but never for dogs before. This has two different squeakers and inside the fabric are two different rubber parts. It’s supposed to simulate prey movement but I don’t know about that. This is free of stuffing and so far, Nyx has not managed to destroy it, but we will see if that is still true in a week or two!
Exclusively Dog Vanilla Flavor Wafer Cookies (8 oz) – Retail Value $5.79 (found here for $4.41)
Here is a second treat from Exclusively Dog. These have also undergone a package change but are good through June of this year. These have dairy and eggs (as well as wheat) but are free of soy; they are also free of animal parts and by-products. Since these are still good, I’ll pass them along to a coworker with a dog to enjoy (Nyx LOVES eggs, they are her new favorite thing in the world, but she can’t have dairy or wheat).
Nyx liked the bone, although so far she has mostly wanted to eat the fleece off of it. (It is so big, it didn’t make for very good pictures.) The kerchief barely fit her (Rottie necks are thick, though).
Verdict: There were 7 items in the March 2019 Pet Treater box, for an average value of about $3.57. I couldn’t find everything online and/or sold individually or with matching package contents (e.g., I found the Pez dispenser with two packs of candy but not three). I’d say the box contents this month were fairly typical for Pet Treater – that is, two toys, two bags of treats plus a custom cookie from Emmy’s, and then a couple of other random items. Nyx thought the toys were pretty fun (and they were an appropriate size for a large dog). I do wish that we had not received expired treats, however.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your subscription would start with the April box.
Value Breakdown: At $24.99 for the box, you are paying about $3.57 per item.
