FYI - Box of Style has had customer care issues in the past. Please read this post about their customer care before subscribing.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Chan Luu Silk Scarf - Exclusive Retail Value $125

This scarf is 100% silk, measures 39” x 39”, and all subscribers can pick between this leopard print or a floral print. (See the floral print here.)

I went with the leopard print, and I love it. It's so lightweight (I can't believe we get a 100% silk scarf in this box), and the black/brown colors and print feel so classic. This is an accessory I can wear for years.

Tribe Alive Leather Clutch - Retail Value $78

This is another classic, simple piece that I'm sure I'll use for years to come. The material is real leather, with two simple metal closures.

There is no lining/pockets inside, but it's pretty small anyway. It will work well for a small clutch with just the essentials (phone, lip balm, etc.) or as a small pouch to keep inside a larger bag.

Here it is in hand to give you a sense of scale:

Michelle Campbell Gold Talon Bracelet Set, Retail Value $215

This bracelet set is made of 14k yellow gold plated brass with white pave stones. (Again, I'm very impressed with the materials used with every item in this box!)

The bracelets are adjustable, and look great on their own or together.

Hands down, these are my favorite item in the box. I'll wear them all the time, and again, I feel like these are such a classic accessory that I'll wear forever!

Here they are on:

Edible Beauty Gold Rush Eye Balm, Retail Value $65

This is a new-to-me brand that is ingredient-conscious - my favorite kind of beauty discovery!

This gold leaf-infused eye cream is designed to help diminish the appearance of wrinkles, puffiness, and dark circles. I didn't notice any difference with dark circles (I think I have the kind of dark circles that topical treatments can't fix), but I loved the hydration of this balm and how easily it melted into my skin.

Skin Gym Rose Quartz Heart Gua Sha - Retail Value $32

Wondering which way to hold it on your face? Here's a picture of Rachel using it!

If you aren't familiar, you can use this in the same way you'd use a jade facial roller.

It's designed to help stimulate circulation and de-puff your skin. Here are tips for using it:

Pro Tip: Apply serum or oil to give your skin the necessary lubrication for massage.

Jawline and Chin: Glide your Skin Gym Sculpty Heart Facial Gua Sha tool upwards from the center of the chin out to the earlobe to contour the jaw

Forehead: Start at the center of the forehead and divide your forehead into three section and glide your tool outwards. Scrape once, then move down a bit and scrape again.

Under-Eye: Start in the inner corner of the eye, and glide outwards to the temple to send your eye-bags packing (Be SUPER delicate in the area around your eyes)

Brows: Glide upwards along the brow bone - going from the inside out.

Lips: Glide over your lips back & forth 5-7 times for plumped pout

Neck: Section your neck into 4 areas and scrape each section from the bottom up - 5 strokes per section.

I've been using this after I apply my serum at night, and just like my jade roller, I've gotten a bit addicted to it. If I had to choose between the two, I'd still pick the traditional jade roller, but this is a great alternative.

Verdict: This box has a retail value of $515. That's fab for $99.99! Even better with their $25 coupon! I'm so impressed with the quality of materials of the items this season. It definitely feels like a box of classic pieces that will withstand the test of time. (And if you aren't going by retail values, this breaks down to $19.99 an item, or $15 an item with the MSA25  coupon.)

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, as of publication, this box was still available.

Use coupon code MSA25 to save $25 off your first box - plus as of publication, Box of Style is also including a free Jules Kae Charlotte Tote, too.

PSA: BOS is a horrible company with epically, almost comically, bad customer service. I never received my Winter 2018 box and efforts to get either the box or a refund have been unsuccessful. Save your money – there are way better companies to do business with.

Honestly I have always found that their customer service is great!

You might want to reach out to them again. They seem to have a new customer service initiative and recently welcomed subscribers to contact them with any issues. I did and quickly received a refund for an issue dating back to well over a year.

Thanks – I did! I’m happy to report that a CS representative did respond to my latest email. She was very apologetic and agreed to issue a refund (which has been credited – I confirmed). In addition, she had BOS ship me all of the products from the Winter 2018 box at no charge (received this weekend). So, I received a refund AND the products. I would still be very hesitant to trust this sub again after having such a rough time of it, but they did go above and beyond to make it right. The free products were totally unexpected.

Carole Miller

I don’t find them difficult to deal with whatsoever.

Carole

I love everything in this box!

I’m ok with the box, but I didn’t get all the add-ons. I was told the items were on backorder. I tried to get an ETA, but I didn’t get a response. Anyone else missing add-ons, and did customer give you an ETA? Thanks, ladies!

For some reason this box looks very mature to me, even though I’m not super young myself. It looks like a fit for my grandmother, who was stylish in a grandmotherly way. I’m probably just biased, or maybe her sense of style is coming back around. In either event, I couldn’t make good use of those accessories.

I really liked this box, the quality is great and classic. I wore the bracelets today. Overall I’m a happy customer.

Me too! I got this box today and I’m blown away. The bracelets and scarf will get a lot of use. The clutch is a classic piece and I’m really happy with the items. I’ve ven considering getting a second one for the other scarf, let’s see if I can control myself 🙂

I passed on this box originally, but I kept seeing all the cute styling tips on their insta and ultimately bought it. I just received it and I have to say- the quality is outstanding (and I’m usually a little critical), and I actually feel like everything’s super chic. Can’t believe I passed on it originally. It’s wonderful in person. BOS aid pretty consistently awesome— I hope they never stop this sub! I know they’ve had some CS issues but I am rooting for them!

Liz, I have horrible dark circles too, and started using The Ordinary Caffeine Solution. Have you tried it yet?? I’ve been using it for about 6 weeks now and I’ve been able to forego undereye concealer after applying my shape tape foundation. Even without makeup, they are sooo much better!

This is one of those boxes that I just don’t get. Any one of these (boring) items can be had for a fraction of what’s listed. It’s ridiculous. Nothing here looks edgy or stylish, just so-so in quality. The bracelet is okay but something similar can be bought anywhere, even one of those cheap mall shops that cater to 12-year-olds. I just don’t get the appeal.

Hey Liz, the hyperlink is missing for the alternative scarf pattern. Enjoyed your review!

I think the comment on retail value is based on what a real world price would be for comparable items.

I don’t know where people shop but in my world I could get a costume jewelry bracelet with fake stones for a fraction of the posted value. I could get a silk scarf in exactly the color and pattern I want for far less and I could get a leather clutch or any other bag for that price or less. Again in a style I wanted.

Of course I have more silk scarves than I could use in a lifetime, a bin of costume jewelry and a long shelf of purses so I am not the target audience for filling up my closet with items randomly selected because they are overstocks and can be obtained in quantity and still make a profit for the subscription brand. 🙂

Real silk (as opposed to polyester silk) is a luxury fabric that isn’t cheap. Nor is 14k plated gold jewelry “costume jewelry” (tho I still don’t think it’s worth $200). You may have items that look like the ones pictured, but I doubt they are of the same quality.

IMHO, it’s probably not $500 RV, but at least worth much more than the $100 cost (the eye cream alone is $65 at Sephora). That’s probably why it’s one of the popular boxes here.

I so agree!

DeeCee

Liz,

May I ask what concealer you use for your dark circles? I struggle with that too and you always look so good on your pictures!

I noticed that you have been mentioning going for the “no make up” make up look in your reviews. I think you look fantastic and so natural. This has also been a goal of mine, to look my best without looking like I am wearing a ton of make up. And I love your look with lighter hair!

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

Thanks, DeeCee! I’m using tarte’s shape tape concealer. It’s super full coverage. Hope that helps! 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

DeeCee

Thank you! I will look for it, definitely needs to be full coverage 😊❤️👍🏼

Caligirl

Okay Liz what is different, you look 10 years younger. Hair? AMAZING

Reply ButtonReply

Lori

I second that! You look super glowy and bright!

Liz Cadman

10 years younger? You are my new favorite person! 🙂

Whole Box is not what you are claiming it is Worth! I am sorry, but I sell products on EBay and the bracelets are only selling for $29? The Eye Cream $18.99, the Clutch nobody wants even for $20? Etc,,

Reply ButtonReply

Julie

What someone sells for on poshmark or Ebay doesnt mean anything about RV of a product. The fact that certain items are exclusive to the box and not available for purchase either makes them a hot item or in most cases seriously diminishes the value. So the RV of exclusive items can be up for debate but you cant judge a product by what someone lists it for on Ebay and you defintely cant accuse the reviewer of claiming its worth more when they are going based off information provided and most times Liz will mention if it can be found cheaper on a reputable site.

all subs boxes inflate value…pretty standard…

I swapped for the bracelets and I love them so much I went ahead and oredered this box (there was a small defect on one of the ones I swapped for). It’s already on its way and I’m keeping everything. I loved the winter box too and use that large tote daily at work.

Liz Cadman

Glad to hear you loved the bracelets as much as I do – I have a feeling you’ll love everything in the box! 🙂

bracelets look very pretty – no disclosure on review like other subs?

thx!

Liz Cadman

Sorry, not sure what you mean about disclosure? I added the note about customer care at the very top of the review, and I also included the standard message “This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).”

Please let me know what you are referring to. Thanks!
