STRONG selfi(ie) Burst Spring 2019 Review
Note that I’m reviewing this as an adult, not a teen! If you have, know, or are a teenager, take a peek and leave a comment about what you think!
New since my last review is this full-color magazine!
It features a letter from the co-founders…
Full details on what came in the Bloom box…
And the full list of what came in our Burst box!
There are also some interactive questions, tips for parents, and fun recipes and playlists.
This box always comes with some compliment cards that can be used to pass along positivity to a friend.
And it also comes with stickers! Now on to the items.
BKR Tutu 500mL – Retail Value $38
BKR is one of the fashionable water bottles of the moment. Not only are they stylish, but they're also environmentally friendly while still being sturdy thanks to the silicone cover on the glass. I definitely know when I was a teenager my mom wasn't going to buy me a $38 water bottle, no matter how cool they were, so I definitely appreciate getting one in this box.
GoGo Squeez Blastz Fruit on The Go in Raspberry Rush, 3.9 oz – Buy a box of 4 for $3.29
This fruit pouch is a blend of apple, raspberry, cranberry, lemon, and natural flavors- and that’s it! No added sugars, no high fructose corn syrup, and no other additives that turn seemingly healthy snacks into modified candy. If you can’t eat fruit straight from the source, this is probably one of the best alternatives. I threw this in the fridge before giving it a try, and I thought it made a tasty snack.
By Lilla Fit Bracelet/Hair Tie, 3 ties – Buy a pack of 6 for $16 here
These hair ties are designed to look stylish on your wrist when you're not using them to hold back your hair. Since these are from the "fit" line, they're also sweat proof and waterproof! I think getting the fit hair ties works into the overall cohesiveness of the box well, and I am seriously eyeing some of their more stylish counterparts.
Vooray Roadie Duffle Bag in Rose Navy – Retail Value $39.99
This duffle bag is SO cute. I love it as a 24-year-old and I definitely would have loved it when I was in high school. Other than the outer zipper pocket it doesn't have any compartments on the inside, but it's big enough for a change of clothes, some tennis shoes, a water bottle, and other odds and ends. This is the perfect size for after-school sports or a sleepover bag. My only complaint is that I wish it had a shoulder strap- I used this to carry business clothes to change into after class, and the handles, while padded, rubbed against the sensitive skin on my arms.
Notes To Self Socks in “I am Kind” – Retail Value $12.99
I have a serious problem keeping track of my socks, so getting new pairs in subscription boxes really excite me. These low cut socks feature the positive phrase “I Am Kind” and the top of the sock is a breathable mesh. The day after I got this box I threw these socks on and went on an intense hike that involved stairs and waterfalls, and these socks held up great!
Busy Beauty Dry Shampoo, Full-Size! - Retail Value $10
I don’t use dry shampoo often because I can’t exactly brush it through my curls, but I do like using a bit after I go for a run before I have time to shower later. This didn’t leave a residue on my dark brown hair and left me feeling fresh.
Bonus: We also received a body wipe to be able to freshen up when a shower isn’t an option.
The Verdict: I think STRONG self(ie) killed it! The entire box had a cohesive theme that worked well together- everything in this box would be perfect for the girls doing afterschool sports or going on sleepovers. I love the high-quality items that were included too- I am older than the target audience and I am still stoked with my new BKR water bottle and cute duffle bag. Value-wise, I calculated a total value of $100.98 for everything except the fruit pouch and the hair ties, and I think that’s the highest value I’ve seen from this box. From a parents perspective, I think I would feel like I got my monies worth, while from a teens perspective I would feel like I hit the jackpot.
